j.hoop 64 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 The defense this game was better, but LAs forwards didnt seem too dangerous tonight. Still, the fact that we can win games while playing average defense (tonight was better) and give up an average of 3+ goals a game is crazy. This teams offensive abilities are incredible. Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Hossa can score on anyone at any time in any situation. Its truly astounding. Now if we could just get our GAA down, Id be happy. As for Flip, I swear if he were a more physical guy, he'd be like the Finnish Chris Drury - good intangibles, great defense, good (not great) offense and comes up with clutch goals like nobodys business. plus without that fluke 3rd goal by LA, the game couldve been different
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 My highlight of the night was at the tail end of the pre-game skate I high-fived Hossa and McCarty. And gave shoulder pats to Ozzie, Datsyuk, Homer, Draper, Kronner, and Stuie. when Sammie came through, I told him to "hit the net tonight buddy." Good to see he didn't take the advice of some stranger!

AtomicPunk 296 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 I gotta say, I had no real impression of Quincey before, but he looked really good tonight. I noticed him out there several times, and always for good reasons. And I noticed Lilja for all the wrong reasons. Bad passes, turnovers, like they were pushing the puck to each other instead of making passes. Why was he on the penalty kill? He was out of position so much, thankfully he had other players covering the back door or they would have gotten burned.

miller76 463 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 Yeh I don't think he and Quincey are great mates. they definitely didnt care for each other tonight. I was waiting for them two to drop the gloves. I was about one section over a couple rows up from the Kopecky hit that broke the glass. That dude got his bell rung. he was a little slow and dazed heading back to the bench. WingsFan2008 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 I'll take 7-1-1 with some sloppy play over 1-7-1 any day. The Wings have time to get everything together. Playoffs not for 6 months.
Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 That's still sort of the case. I haven't been to a game in Anaheim since '06, but there was a lot of red even during the playoffs. The regular season is even worse (better?). And you saw the crowd in L.A. tonight. That must have been at least 1/3 Detroit fans. ya there are ALWAYS a grip load of wing fans at ducks game. I would have to say it is close if not the same to the amount of kings fans the ponda gets when they are in town.
Guest mindfly Report post Posted October 28, 2008 god bless the nhl point system, we don't have SO in the SEL, we just have 5min OT if it's still tie after that it's a tie and 1point for each team...imagine if SO wasn't the case in NHL we would have 2ties... so the 7-1-1 would be like 5-1-3.. think about it =( happy that möller scored though, he'll be a great hockeyplayer... *proud mate*
Guest Four Report post Posted October 28, 2008 So would anyone like to give me their description on the game and how Detroit played. These games are too late for me so whoever wants to do it for me for the next 3 games would be awesome.

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 Basically, Detroit played pretty well in the 1st, LA took over in the 2nd and half of the 3rd, and Detroit came back to tie it 3-3 thanks to a Filpulla interception. We went into OT, where Hossa looked dangerous (as always lately), then the SO where Datsyuk and Zetterberg, our first two shooters, scored to win the game. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 Did anyone else find as much humor as I did in the fact that the Kings were playing Dump & Chase hockey while both teams were skating 3-on-3 to start OT? Seriously...WTF?

Krystal 41 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 Awesome shots of RWNW Hope you guys had a blast at the game! I about fell asleep on my couch in the 2nd period - I had to keep the lights and sound low to keep from waking up my daughter, and the game was 2-2 with 7 left in the 2nd when I went to bed. But I get NHL.com Wings updates on my phone, so it buzzed me after OT to let me know we won 2 more late games this week, and I have to work Thursday morning x_x I'm probably only going to catch half of Wednesday's game too. Freakin' fail

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 That was how it was for a while, correct? like 10 years ago if that long? The first season of the Shootout came after the 2004-2005 lockout (meaning 2005-2006 was the first season of its existance). 2003-2004 was the last season with ties. Back then they had 4 columns to determine your record: Wins-Loses-Ties-OT Loses Wins were worth 2 points regardless of what time they were earned (I.E. Regulation or OT) Loses were worth 0 Points Ties *and* OT Loses were worth 1 Point
dallas27 7 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 The thing I liked most about the game was when they were celebrating after the shoot out at center ice; You could see Hossa messing around with Hank and Dats and company. Combine that with how excited Homer, Pav, and Hossa get when they score makes me think they are starting to get into Hossa's head that the Wings system and franchise is where he should be...for a long time. And I think Hossa is starting to see this. Now it does help that Hossa is starting to fit in and can be the most dominant player on the ice. Whether or not the money situation allows it remains to be seen, regardless I'm starting to think Hossa wants to be a Red Wing.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 29, 2008 regardless I'm starting to think Hossa wants to be a Red Wing. I hope so. I'm getting attached to this guy, man, if we really only get one year with him, I want to see Hossa raise the Cup over his head, the guy deserves it.
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted October 29, 2008 I really do not think this team has Cup Hangover, I think they are still inebriated from signing Hossa and all the hype. They need to view his as another player and can be benched at any time. IF this is the mentally of some players, maybe the miscues and communication will become more fluid like. Just a thought. I am liking what I see from Hossa...
