shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=254494&lid...s=headlines_nhl It's a sign, Marty. You need to defer more of the workload to Weekes. I'm pretty sure that this is the only way that Weeks will get into more then 10 games this season. I hope Marty's injury is not worse then they are saying. I would love to see him erase Roys name from the record books for most wins.
AtomicPunk 296 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 If you saw the game, it did not look like an elbow to me, it looked more like a groin. He went down awkwardly and tried to do the splits again to make a save, and came up holding his elbow. If he is hurt, I don't know how it can be the elbow that didn't touch anything. digitaljohn88 4 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 Everyone's saying it's a hyperextended elbow or a torn ligament or something like that, more serious than an "elbow bruise". Kevin Weekes (Devils backup) had an "elbow bruise", which actually turned out to be a torn ligament that required surgery. New Jersey's season could take an interesting turn if Brodeur is out for a long time.
40#1Fan 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur will have surgery Thursday morning to repair a torn distal biceps in his left elbow and will miss three to four months, Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said this morning http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/hockey/

Esquire 324 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 Unreal. I guess this is a plus for us since we play the Devils on Saturday. I was kind of concerned about facing Brodeur since we've got 5 DAYS off before we were supposed to face them. Bummer for Brodeur though. Should make the record chasing pretty interesting when he gets back.

glasgowcelticwing 18 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 Ouchy that sucks, looks like the Devils season just fell apart. it'd be intresting to watch and see how they cope without him. he's held their team together so long. I hope he gets back asap.

Blazer 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 Damn, I'm not feeling that sorry for him being injuried, alas the guy has barely missed any games all career, insane numbers for a goalie that wise. But four months, I guess his streak of at least 34 wins per season had to end at some point, now at 12 including last season. Should make a fun January for the Devils though, if he makes it back in under three months.
Torless 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 I think all of this just goes to show the problem with risking it all on Brodeur... Weekes is not ready because he never gets to play... and they can pick up a nomad goalie for the season but they really need to find a franchise replacement for Marty He's not getting any younger - or healthier Godspeed Marty - hope you can come back in time to smash Patty Roy's numbers this season. shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 I had a strange feeling that his injury was more sever then just a bruse. Thats really to bad for him
russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 Honestly I think that maybe they learn that Marty isnt a spring chicken and they start to give him a 55 game workload after this season...granted it was a fluke injury, but it is also time to prepare for what life without Marty could be like in NJ...and its a scary thought for Devils fans.
