going_top_shelf 6 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Right now the wings are averaging 3 goals per game. Does anyone wish they were scoring an average of 5 or six? Obviously five goals per game everygame is a little much to hope for but at least four would be pretty awesome. note: I'm not complaining, just curious what everyone one thinks. BTW, Hossa played phenomenal tonight!!!!
Guest Four Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Nope, I do wish for 1.5 or less GAA though.

BTW, Hossa played phenomenal tonight!!!! To be more precise, we're averaging 3.5 goals per game...which frankly isn't too bad at all if you really crunch the numbers. We're #2 in the league, second only to Philly's 3.67 goals per game. It's our goals against per game that concerns me more - 3.25. That's only good enough for 22nd in the league (for comparison, Philly's in 27th with a number matching their GFA, 3.67).

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 I wish Goals Per Game were down. I like tight grinding games, not shootouts.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 I want the Wings to average 25 goals a game and give up 0 a game. Knowing that that will never happen in anybody's lifetime, there's no logical reasoning to bicker about the amount of goals they are racking up. Goals against is another story, but they've been improving on that lately.
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Ummm, I'd like every team to be scoring more per game, but to put things in perspective, the Wings currently lead the league with 3.61 goals per game. What they need to improve on right now is keeping the puck out of their own net. In terms of scoring 4 goals per game, well, I don't think any team has done that since the 1993-94 Wings (15 years). In terms of 5 goals per game, other than the 1970 Bruins (close to 40 years ago) no team in the history of the game has done it besides the Oilers over 20 years ago. No team has come anywhere near 6 goals per game.
Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Problem is 5 on 5. 5 ON 5 GOALS FOR/AGAINST RATIO IS 1.04 Detroit is dangerous on PP with all talent and skills but scoring 5 on 5 is BRUTAL.
HOCKEY MATTERS 167 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Wings already have a bullseye on their backs, no need to antagonize any more than they already do. I think if the Wings start blowing opponents out by 3 - 5 goals every game the injury list will be longer than the healthy roster. The D is looking much better but I agree...5 on 5 needs some improvement.

Not as bad as it sounds, though. Brutal would be the Isles with 0.53 With 1.04, we're tied with Carolina for 11th in the league.
