SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted December 21, 2008 (edited) Last year didnt rafalski make it in the top 4 defencemen but they didnt let him go because the wings already had too many players attending the all-star game? I read or heard Rafalski said that he already had a personal vacation planned for the few days with his family. Doubt it had anything to do with too many Wings players. And in terms of the all-star game, if 20 Wings go or if none of them go, doesn't really matter to me. I like the whole concept of all-star games, they are fun, but it is largely a popularity contest that gets the people in IMO, not necessarily always the best players during a season or up to the point of the All-Star game. big_D 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2008 I got an email from a board member who wanted me to post this: Sarah, I need your help. Ive been reading the blackhawks message board and try to sign up but it takes forever to validate. If you could put a post in the all star voting that would be great. I found a way to text vote 1000 times. You know how to send a text message to multiple people? One my phone you can put up to 10 people. If in all ten slots you put 81812 you can send 10 at a time. And when you hit resend it sends all ten each time. Im a huge hawks fan and I think you're the only one on the boards that has their own website so I can email you. If you can pass that along to the other people that would be great. Thanks, Jay SO PUT 81812 IN ALL TEN RECIPIENT SLOTS HIT SEND THEN HIT RESEND SO IT SENDS ALL TEN AGAIN REPEAT MANY TIMES biggrin.gif p.s. Hawks f'in RULE right now! Jeezus christ the pens fans are finding ways to cheat now hawks Good Game... the allstar vote is a huge joke....
theman19 47 Report post Posted December 21, 2008 you gotta think that the nhl is gonna look into all this. The canadians, pens and now the hawks fanbase have all had widespread and high publicized cheating. You gotta think next year someone's gotta catch on. WingNut 25 5 Report post Posted December 21, 2008 The text voting has to be eliminated. Hopefully the league will take a look at stuff like this. Maybe someone should forward this to the league, assuming there is a way to do so.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted December 21, 2008 One vote per person, no text voting, bot-blocks on allstar voting sites. If you want to go through all the crap of making up fake emails and such to get a second/third/fourth vote in, whatever. Those small margins will balance out because everyone does that anyway. TheOwl 77 Report post Posted December 21, 2008 On this hockey show, the experts were saying the fan voting should be 1/3, 1/3 for sports writers, and 1/3 for GM's. It makes complete sense. How can the league actually pick it's all stars through a popularity contest? It's a joke. They should do it based on stats, or some kind of system where fan voting is only a portion of the decision. puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted December 23, 2008 (edited) Just out of curiousity, now that we're into the 8th page of how to "outcheat" the cheaters in terms of player voting: what make you all think the Wings even want to be involved in this sham? The Wings don't need to cheat to win. It would be a much-needed statement if the reigning Cup-champions - should they be 'elected' to attend - all decline for personal reasons. No Wings/SC champs at all would tell even people who don't watch hockey (like Bettman) that something is fundamentally wrong with this event. If no one watches Crosby and others whose fan bases get them included by technological cheating, there's the answer. It's an all star cheater game, and who wants to watch that? Cheaters? Well texting isnt really cheating.... so cant really say they are just cause it sends 10 votes at a time and if u do it for an hour str8 its 1k votes doesnt mean there cheating... TheOwl 77 Report post Posted December 24, 2008 (edited) ^ What the **** is the NHL thinking. Letting the dumb bandwagon fans determine the all stars. Lidstrom has been passed by both Pronger and Scott N. Looks like San Jose and Detroit won't have one player in the starting line up. Giguere passed Luongo. Looks like it'll be Chicago and Anheim versus Montreal and Pittsberg. Not to mention the fact Vanek, Ovechkin and Carter, the leaders in goals, aren't even close to cracking the starting line up. Assist queens Malkin and Crosby, Montreal's two shotty defensemen, Kovelev who couldn't score for 15+ games, and all those stupid Anehiem players, will all be the starters as it seems today. The whole texting thing is a joke, the whole popularity contest is a joke. The NHL openly said "Vote early, vote often." How could they literally say, vote as much as you want. All-Star game won't be worth watching with all these overrated players getting starting spots. The Stats say it all. The stats are facts, their unbiased. Their fair. Use stats to pick who gets in.
