BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 I'd take the empty netter at this point. The more common ending has been allowing the tying goal when they pull the goalie for the extra skater.
Matt 1,049 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 OH and they think it was in before he kicked it? Wow. It's not possible, though. No white seperation from the goalline and the puck. I won't even by the lame "well, we'd need something conclusive to overturn the ruling on the ice" BS. It was clearly NOT across the line and clearly a kicking motion. I don't understand how these assclowns can still get that wrong.

Shaman 713 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Oh, and Get rid of Ozzy too...or atleast dont play him every game...Has anyone notice that Ozzy is streaky as hell? Hes either hot as hell or he blows...
Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 The defense played it right, ozzie should have stopped that. Do you even know hockey? You NEVER let the forward skate into your own goal like that.
Guest Four Report post Posted November 14, 2008 That goal was rather inconvenient, but Detroit has been slowing again.. The Lightning are spending more and more time i the Wings end again. We are inconsistent as the NHL. Also, we are improving and getting better. Big improvements in the past two days (besides last period of last game adn first of this game). Matt 1,049 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 They made the right call, I think. The puck went off the skate, but I don't think you can conclusively say it was a kicking motion from watching the replay. No, it was a horrible call and absolutely a kicking motion. The follow through is a dead giveaway.

seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 I absolutely love seeing a superstar like Hossa work that hard. Shoulda been a penalty, and he almost got the goal anyway.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 It never ceases to amaze me how incompetent NHL refereeing can get. It's clearly a kicking motion, clearly hasn't cleared the goalline... yet it's a goal? You can't claim inconclusive evidence here... If the top goalline cam didn't give you a clear indication of a kicking motion, the one from the top of the glass directly behind the net DOES. Absolutely pathetic. They made the right call, I think. The puck went off the skate, but I don't think you can conclusively say it was a kicking motion from watching the replay. Osgood needs to come up big here. It looked like a kick to me, but it is a very subjective call. He was kind of stopping, but looked like he moved his foot to put it in.

I have serious misconceptions of the NHL's ability to competently officiate games.

Definitely should've been a penalty with how they've called it tonight. Great strength by Hossa.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 (edited) We need the other angle to see if it was a butt end of Raf's stick or the puck that hit Vinny in the mouth. Do they not have the angle behind the f-ing net? Edited November 14, 2008 by haroldsnepsts

BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 No, it was a horrible call and absolutely a kicking motion. The follow through is a dead giveaway. OK, I could have missed the definitive replay you guys saw. Either way, the fact that a) the defensemen allowed the forward to get that kind of prime real estate and b) the goaltender wasn't able to do more to prevent it is lamentable.
