haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Another good point by Mick. The faceoff either has to come out, or it's a penalty for a high stick on Rafalski. there's no way it should stay in the zone and no penalty call.

Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Do you even know hockey? You NEVER let the forward skate into your own goal like that. It's similar to a 2 on 1. The defenseman needs to cover the player without the puck and leave the player with the puck to the goalie. This is the same thing. The lighting had two players in perfect position for a pass/one timer, and the defensemen covered them, and left the player with the puck to the goalie. Ozzie needs to make those saves. It went right through the rive hole, that can't happen like that.
The Mule 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Horrible officiating, but nice to see us pick up a win. With the exception of most of the first period, tonight's game was a big step in the right direction.
Guest Four Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Good game Wings, we just need to be more consistent. Strange game again - two in a row. I don't expect too much from the Wings tomorrow having played today.

Once he started going in you have to back up your goalie. Even when you play the pass on a 2 on 1 you don't just give the forward free reign to the net. It's simple. It's impossible to shut the five hole moving across across the net with a forward coming across the crease. Not that it was a great goal, but it's not like giving up a 5-hole goal on a normal shot. Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 (edited) Yeah. To me this team didn't look a whole lot better. It shouldn't have been this hard against Tampa. The first period, to me, was like period three against Pittsburgh. The defense was brutal, there were tons of giveaways and odd man breaks, even on the PK where you always have three or four men back. But they finished strong. They started making the right plays in the second and third, like they did in the first and second vs the Pens. The goal at the end was bad all around, but I thought besides that the last two periods went very well. I'd hand the game-puck to Maltby for this one. His tremendous effort on the PK gave the Wings the momentum that didn't relent until the buzzer for the period sounded, and with the Wings having tons of PP time for the third. It is obnoxious that they failed to play a 60 minute game, but I suppose it's better to finish strong than get up early and sit back. Cruiser008 37 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 The reffing is a joke whenever the Wings take a lead. And that play late where the puck hit Vinny..... how the **** is the faceoff still in the Red Wing zone? Absolutely ridiculous. Excellent hockey for 40 min. though.
