ManLuv4Clears 7 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Do you think ESPN kept his chair warm? If so, I hope they don't get rid of Barnaby, he's been doing a pretty decent job in my opinion.
Wings_Fan_In_Exile 3 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Wow, that didn't take long. Wow, you aren't kidding. I've always had a love/hate relationship with Melrose, but I gotta feel bad for him here. That is one helluva short run as coach.
Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted November 14, 2008 wow... happened quicker than I thought. But then again... these new owners don't wanna let anything settle. They are running this team like if LGW had control of a team.
hockeytown9321 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 After all his criticism of the Red Wings over the years, its fitting that we put the final nail in his coaching career's coffin.
Icesurfer 75 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Couldn't have happened to nicer guy! LOL He was so anti-Wing for years and was kissin' *ss in an interview on Wings pregame.

Icesurfer 75 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Are there rumors that Melrose wants the defensive coach position on the Wings??? Yeh.... fat chance!
adtthosa 5 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Well, at least the Tampa management is willing to admit their mistake. I always liked Tortorella to be honest, I think they should have kept him.

sputman 1,268 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Are there rumors that Melrose wants the defensive coach position on the Wings??? Yeh.... fat chance! melrose wouldn't "lower" himself to that position. unlike most people, he has a love/love relationship with himself.
b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 hahaha hilarious when you think about when he got the job and he said "well, they were last place last season, I can't do any worse".... apparently you can Barry. Get a haircut, welcome back to ESPN

RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Last night, when we toyed with them for a period and spotted them a 2 goal lead, then started to play, and winning the game ... guess that was the last straw. Owners were stupid in the first place to let go Tortorella. Cliff Fletcher to the rescue now that his services won't be needed.

DRW Dominance 255 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 They were talking about Barry today on the Fan590 and wondering why St. Louis and Prospal had 7 more minutes playing time over Vinnie and how Stamkos wasn't playing nearly enough. That is quite the quick hook.
Doggy 130 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 !!!!!!!!!! I don't care about Melrose but am very excited to see Tocchet behind the helm of a club finally.

Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Wow. That was a shorter return to coaching than I expected. I hope I don't have to go back to hearing the mullet talk on ESPN now
Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 That's too bad for ol' Barry. Even though he's been a punk for most of his time on ESPN he was a sane counterpoint to Don Cherry during the playoffs last year. I'm not happy that he's fired but boy are Koules and Co. going to learn a lot of lessons about how not to run a team.
A.T.Hun 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 They were talking about Barry today on the Fan590 and wondering why St. Louis and Prospal had 7 more minutes playing time over Vinnie and how Stamkos wasn't playing nearly enough. That is quite the quick hook. And THAT's the logic behind firing him? Yeah, five wins in 16 games isn't exactly going to get you the Adams, but did people really expect the Ning to make the playoffs this year? How many seasoned coaches will be lining up at their door after this? So they turn to Toccet who probably hasn't gambled in, what, months now. Craziness. I, for one, wouldn't mind at all seeing him back on ESPN.
Vladiator 116 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Wow the thought crossed my mind last night after the Wings won that Melrose might get the hook. What sweet revenge for the Wings after this guy has been bashing the Wings for so many years. Yes, there is a God.
