egroen 384 Report post Posted November 20, 2008 (edited) why does it piss me off when getzlaf gets points? i don't know why i hate the guy so much...i honestly think it's just because he looks like such a ******. he's never done anything bad to me, and i can't really remember a time where he did something that i felt was unfair against the wings. *shrug* oh, well, glad the ducks lost. i suppose that if a duck fan read this thread he/she would assume that we're still just pissed from the playoff boot and have sour grapes because "we think the ducks can still beat us." i'd really love a playoff series to settle this once and for all (or at least until the next year starts ). Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted November 20, 2008 (edited) Montador nutted ovechkin, after watching part of this game its obvious why ovechkin puts up so many points, he stays out the whole pp and every other pass is ot him, too bad this philosophy dosen't win you championships Actually, feeding your best player the puck, when everyone knows he's getting it and they still can't stop him, is a pretty sound strategy. One thing I noticed about the Caps last night. They have some great top end offensive forwards. AO Semin Backstrom Fedorov Kozlov Mike Green is ridiculously good. They have good size on the blueline despite not being terribly experienced. They have good toughness with Brash, Erskine, Clark, Bradley. The reason they won't win a cup. Jose Theodore just isn't very good. Oh yeah, I also noticed that AO was killing penalties and the man can flat out pass the puck and pass it with effectiveness. He made some split second decisions last night passing the puck that really impressed me. A couple of times somebody would pass the puck to him in the neutral zone and he knew where he was going with it b4 it even got to him. He'd end up whipping the puck cross ice to somebody streaking in unmolested into the offensive zone. In short, I didn't realize he was as smart as he is good. And one other thing, he's got the most wicked release and velocity I've ever seen. Even his wrist shots look like they're coming in about 95 mph. On a weird side note, when I was on Yahoo! earlier yesterday, they showed the boxscores for the games on the right side of the page, and before the game had even started they had the score to the Caps vs. Ducks game as 1222700 to 1. He's got this big, dumb, ******-face or something. I use to hate seeing him score but then I could no longer deny that he's a great player and so ******-factor aside I respect him. And what is it with all the AO knobslobbering? I love how he's seen by many fans as the anti-Crosby when it's the same media that overexposes the both of them. I saw Ovechkin on the PK and he did absolutely nothing besides skate down and back and get off. Face it, there's lots of reasons they won't win the cup. IMO, their goaltending is the number 1 reason. They don't have enough quality players deep into their lineup to ever win with a "good" goalie like Osgood. They need a Luongo type goalie to win with their team that only has offense going for it. As for AO, well I saw him to a little more than what you saw on the PK, including clearing the puck a couple of times. Boudreaux must have him out there for some reason. I was very disappointed however when I was in Wash DC last week to find out they were not televised on my hotel cable?? Not sure what station airs them in DC but I got versus and everything so I figured the local sports network would come through. Anyhow, sad to see the Sharks beat them up tonight.
