Lilja vs. Souray!

Did Lilja even connect with his head or helmet on that one? Looks like the post-swing (and Souray grabbing his sweater) dragged Souray down.

Still, the outcome was better than I expected when I realized who was dropping them with Souray.

I'm just happy Lilja dropped the gloves with a guy like Souray, no matter how silly he looked doing it. Hopefully it will spark others to follow suit.

Next up... Kirk Maltby! Hahahaha. Maybe Maltby and Lilja should have a go, I bet it would look more like a Waltz then an ice hockey scrap!

LOL. I cannot think of a more cowardly hockey player than Maltby. He is truly a disgrace to the Winged Wheel. I like agitators, hell, I love them....but there's a man rule - if you;'re going to shoot your mouth off, be ready to back it up. That's the way it goes on the playground, that's the way it goes in bars, and that's the way it should be on the ice. I can respect a guy like Ian Lapperierre, even though he's irritating. I can't respect Kirk Maltby very much.

Souray DESTROYED McCarty the last time they fought. Mac was a Flame at the time.

WRONG! MAC didn't get "destroyed", he did just fine. He was cut above the eye from Souray's ***** wrist brace he had on (see below). MAC gave him a bunch of crap after the fight about the f***in' brace too. Souray = *****.

brace or not Souray landed at least 2 big punches, including the 1st one that opened Mac up. Minus the blood factor I would've given Souray the win for landing the harder shots (face it, most guys Mac fights punch harder than he does, never was much in the punch power category). But he didn't really get owned. He just lost.

Agree. He lost, he didn't get destroyed. Without the brace that cuts MAC, this is a normal hug fest with a couple of good punches by Souray (and MAC got a few in at the end too! ;) )

I have always criticized those who like fighting by saying that the name of the game is hockey, not boxing, WWF, or total combat. Nevertheless, I recognize the fact that sometimes fights are needed and are justified.

However, I've never seen a decent hockey fight. It all looks like a bunch of jersey-grabbing to me.

Someone should teach hockey players moves to counteract the jersey-grabbing!

It was kind of lame since Lils tried to channel his #3 counterpart in Calgary to start the fight. I blame the jersey and the bad ice. I mean come on Lidstrom fell trying to get back for a two-on-one. It must have been the ice.

On the plus side those Vintage jerseys looked good.

You need to youtube some old Probert and Kocur matches. They had numerous 1 punch KO's that were too quick for Jersey grabbing.

Check out Probert vs Coxe

I love that Lilja drops the gloves. As I've said before, he's basically trying to learn to fight against the elite level fighters. Most guys come up learning the ropes. I think it's safe to say Lilja hasn't.

That being said, he seriously needs to spend some time with Downey and Mac. Give him some basic tactics and help him learn to stay on his feet when he wants to.

I was thinking Probert McSorley. Epic fight. Starts with lots of jersey grabbing, but then they start throwing haymakers when they get their hands free. It's got to be the longest fight I've ever seen.

but yeah, Joey had some quick ones with that right hand of his.

Another clear win for Lilja.

People have complained that he wins his fights without even throwing punches, but he bided his time and then BOOM!! he dropped Souray like a sack of potatoes.

Poor Sheldon still hasn't gotten the license plate of that truck that connected with his face at the end of that fight. That's what he gets for trying to hug Lilja instead of fight him.

So who's gonna be Lilja's next *****?

You are right, that fight with McSorley has to be near the top of Probie's best list. IMO one of the best draws ever... i don't anyone won... they both did! Nice find Snepsts
