egroen 384 Report post Posted November 21, 2008 (edited) I have always criticized those who like fighting by saying that the name of the game is hockey, not boxing, WWF, or total combat. Nevertheless, I recognize the fact that sometimes fights are needed and are justified. However, I've never seen a decent hockey fight. It all looks like a bunch of jersey-grabbing to me. Someone should teach hockey players moves to counteract the jersey-grabbing! You tube some Rick Rypien fights. This little guy might be the best pound-for-pound fighter out there. His father owns a boxing gymn and is a golden gloves fighter. Rypien is one of the best technical fighters I have seen. Lilja 5 minutes Souray 5 minutes they get our worst D, we get their biggest offensive threat ANYWAYS! great to see from Lilja! Im sorry but "dropping him on his ass" would mean that Lilja woulda had to atleast landed a punch causing him to fall. Not just a hugfest that ended up with one guy losing his balance. After seeing that fight opponents are probably more inclined to take runs at the skilled players knowing theyll basically get a pat on the back from Lilja after. What drugs were you on during the fight? Lilja did land that punch, and it was the only real punch of the fight. It figures. A Wings player beats someone in a fight and even our own fans are unhappy about it. Would you rather have seen Hudler take on Souray? Lilja 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 Lilja is a tactical fighter....he holds on until he knocks the other player with one punch hear the crowd go "oooooh" after the knockout.. haha No but seriously... he is doing great here! Coming out alive ... is enough to qualify for it. Sucks how little love he gets after taking out their best D. Besides, is it just me or isnt Lilja playing really well lately? That being said though, I always appreciate when people drop the gloves and start throwing fists as long as it isn't a cheapshot or suckerpunching or stuff like that as it takes guts to be willing to get in a tussle like that. I'm not one of those, "OH MY GOD YEAH A FIGHT BEAT HIS BRAINS IN!!!!!!!" kinda people though. More often than not it just is what it is, a fight, nothing to snooze through but worth really mentioning 3 weeks later at the dinnertable. This is another one of those fights. therock48880 14 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 WRONG! MAC didn't get "destroyed", he did just fine. He was cut above the eye from Souray's ***** wrist brace he had on (see below). MAC gave him a bunch of crap after the fight about the f***in' brace too. Souray = *****. esteef Ok, I admit, "Destroyed" was a bit strong. He lost, though, and that was 2 seasons ago.
