The playoffs up to that goal was the best that Lilly had ever played. He was our 2nd best defenseman behind Lids. He was leading the playoffs in hits through the conference finals. He was awesome.

To this day that remains one of the most heartbreaking moments of my life. Andreas really was in the zone, he was at a level just below Nick. The love was flowing and couldn't be stemmed.

Truly, it was a cruel punishment for an unjust universe.

Until Late in the season / Playoff Time. He'd Play A Pretty Solid game, but then Make One big mistake that caused a goal.

I think it's stupid that everyone blames him for losing that game for us. They fail to remember that he had scored the only goal for the Wings and if Datsyuk hadn't gotten the penalty, if Franzen had cleared cleared the puck, and if the puck wouldn't have deflected strangely in off Nick's stick we would have won that game 1-0. You'd all still be in love with Lilja because we would have won the Cup that year and this year would have been our second of back to back Cups.

It's been said before he's a great PKer and shot blocker and is a perfectly good 5th D-man. Just be happy that he's doing well rather than being skeptical and waiting for him to make a mistake just so you can say "I told you so".

Also- He's pretty much the only D-man than hasn't scored against us. Do you guys not remember Kronwall scoring against Ozzie in this years playoffs. Game 5 of Pittsburgh IIRC. Or the game where Cheli and Nick scored against Ozzie in a game against the Panters last season?...Just sayin'

I love Lilja. He should be the new folk hero in Michigan, and deserves to stay when Chelios gets back.

Every single Detroit defenseman makes that pass on the PK. It's the standard "out" for them if they win a puck battle in the corner because 99% of the time the PP players will hug the board to attempt to smother a clearing attempt. So the Wings just make a quick pass to the slot where a Red Wing forward should be.

lilja has been good, he had a good game lastnight as well i was there, he seems to be putting more effort into his game this year, i think it all began in last years playoffs when we benched cheli and brought in lilja vs the stars thats what i think atleast.....
