Yeah, not going to complain about this trip. Did anyone notice how the linesmen were blocking some of the outs by the Wings. Wow when I saw a linesmen block the puck on a clear and saw him kick it back into the D zone, I knew the Wings were going to lose. Gotta say the Nucks D did a great job though.

please tell me this isnt another conspiracy theory where everyone is conspiring against the wings. i didnt like the penalty because i felt there should have been one against whoever tackled Z 20 seconds earlier but still, 5pts.

the worst part is now im going to get it from all my stupid canucks fan friends (HOW COULD ANYONE LIKE THAT TEAM?!). trevor linden?! please.

Alright, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. If you like listening to a bunch of people ***** and moan about how the season is over, how we should cut this guy and this guy, how this is the worst 14-2-4 team on the planet, and don't want to do anything about, you do that. There is nothing in the world that is more annoying than that. As Red Wing fans, we have been given the opportunity to enjoy and root for one of the premier organizations in ALL OF PROFESSIONAL SPORTS. Too many posters take that for granted with all this incessant complaining about a game that means next to nothing in the grand scheme of things. People need to realize this, accept the fact that there are 82 games plus the playoffs in the season, and realize that bad losses are going to happen and cut out the retarded knee-jerk reactions that make you look dumb and immature.

/rant over

I find it annoying too... I've just found that since the latest cup people have been a lot more sensitive about anyone complaining. I really don't think there's anything wrong with expecting constant greatness out of the Wings- but only because it's the Wings. I'm not asking the Toronto Blue Jays to be constantly great- but making the damn playoffs would be nice! :ranting: (yeah- I watched some baseball this summer... couldn't get the craving for sports out of my blood after the big win).

Maybe I shouldn't have directed my post right at you... you just kinda boiled the anger over. :P

No, not going to bother with that conspiracy theory . Just a complaint that the linesmen didn't do a good job (yes everyone make mistakes). If you can watch a puck, then you would have noticed that, yes the linesmen did stop a few pucks back into the Wings zone, of which none became a scoring chance. Just an observation.

Franzen has said hes still not feeling up to speed after his injury - that probably has a lot to do with his play.

That said, I'm with you about Z's line. Hank is doing a ton of good work out there every shift it seems, but a lot of it isnt coming to fruition because of his linemates. Yes, Franzen was invisible, but I thought Sammy played fairly well. However, the chemistry between Hank and Sammy the past few games seems to be a bit off. A change might do Hank some good while we're dogged with 2 key injuries.

Hell, with the way Babs has been experimenting with the lines, he might want to try out Hank and Hossa together for a shift, and reunite the Flip-Datsyuk-Franzen line. None of our top lines have looked particularly hot lately, and you never know - if Datsyuk were to go down, itd likely be Hank moving up to center Hossa. Itd be nice if they had a few games experience playing together if that were to happen. Eh, just a thought..

OoooO! What about a Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Kopecky line? Where Kopecky has to skate a bit slower and stick his tongue out?

:D

Damn it I wish Babs would put Datsyuk and Zetterberg out together for a period or two- just for my viewing pleasure! :)

5 of a possible 6 points, minus Cleary, Holmstrom for 2 (3?) and Kronners for 1. I wish they'd pulled it off, but that's not half bad.

Tweak the D some (and yes, Cheli will help here- leadership and a steadying hand), maybe reunite Z+D every so often to offer a different look, and they'll be fine. I'd also like to see Conks start for a while- put some pressure on Ozzie, since he thrives on it.

A few minor tweaks, and all said, they're still on pace for a 57-8-17 season, and I read that as 131 points. President's Trophy, and the tweaks should have them ready for a deep playoff run.

Just got back from the game. A very Jeckyl-and-Hyde effort tonight, there were stretches where the Wings just couldn't get the forecheck going to save their lives, others when they seemed to treat forechecking like child's play. And man did Hossa look good, he seemed to do everything short of getting a puck behind the goal line tonight.

No in-person autographs tonight - understandably, the players probably weren't in the mood. Chatted with their bus driver for a bit and he gave me a signed Samuelsson card, though.

Lackluster effort all together tonight. Not impressed.

I expect to see a better effort out of the Wings on Wednesday.

Jeez - I was at the game and very impressed with the Wings. We were so close to losing in regulation. It was probably among one of the tightest checking games I have watched. Your boys worked their behinds off especially pinning us in our own zone - excellent forechecking. Please take into consideration that the Canucks have incredible chemistry presently, and are workhorses and tough to play against with Demitra healthy and gelling with the Sedins, a very elusive Wellwood that everyone forgets is on the ice, extremely tough 3rd line checkers that can also score, a stingy defense with 3 veterans that are excellent positional players, (Ohlund, Salo, Mitchell) and surprisingly tough & productive newcomers, (Hordichuk, Johnson, O'Brian) and speed to spare with Hansen & Raymond.

We are not the same Canucks as we were last year. We are obviously happy we won in OT but it was freaking hard earned and then some! I hope we can keep up the pace but it won't be easy.

And I don't understand how anyone could complain about Osgood, he is a beast! He made a jaw dropping save on Jannick Hansen:

I'm always amused by this. Pretty much every game this season LGW freaks the f*** out about everything that went wrong. Go to a forum for the opposing team and more often then not they're ecstatic about how well said team played against the Wings. EVEN IF THE TEAM LOST IN THE PROCESS. Penguins excluded but that's just because they still have a stick up their collective ass concerning the Wings.

Nearly passed out when he made that save, btw.

Guest Four

Ehh, Detroit from what I saw last night were playing in sync, but still had sloppy moments. This was only in the first and I was hoping it wouldn't grow into the other periods although I for sure thought the Wings would win this game. Disappointing, but hey, they had their chance and they blew it again.

Wow, are you serious? That Sedin deflection should have definitely been stopped.

Good lord, did you even watch the game? Ozzie is the only reason the Red Wings got a point tonight. He made huge saves numerous times during the game. Rip the team for sitting on a lead (again) if you must, but you are way off if you think Ozzie is at all to blame.

when was the last time ozzie stole a game for us? ummm how about NEVER!

you're saying you have confidence in ozzie? when we're up by 1,2 or even 3 goals with 5 min left in the 3rd, you have confidence in him? or do you cringe everytime the oppositions gets over our blueline? cause i know i do.. and if it's OT and their is a PK, forget about it.. guaranteed goal. he cannot stop a beachball when the pressure is on. thats what bugs the s*** out of me this year with him.. i love the guy to death but f*** how many more 3+ goal games can we take? do we really have to score 6 goals every night with him in net? guess that's why we have under 2 million goalies and all other teams 4+.

ozzie yes made some brilliant saves, no one is denying that.. but when it counts to steal us a game, it just never happens.

You can't blame Ozzy for a loss like that even a little. The guy played off his ass but was victimized for some goals you really can't blame him for: Hudler coughing up the puck on the doorstep, sick bouncing deflection, and a 4on3 onetime through a Datsyuk screen. The guy hasn't been perfect yet this season, but I'm starting to think he is cursed.

Now to say that Osgood has never stolen a game for the Wings ever is ridiculous, more of the same BS and "goalie" controversy this forum tends to drum up every year. I personally think you ride the hot hand anyways, and give Ozzy a chance for a his luck to turn around for later in the season. But people on this forum have such ridiculously short memories that I'm pretty sure half of them just pick up the stats afterwards and don't actually watch the damn thing.

Last night is a example of the Wings collectively blowing a game with turnovers, screens, and OT penalties, a trend that has happened all season. Your goaltender shouldn't have to "steal" these games, and I'm pretty sure there is confusion on what it means to steal a game. You can't chalk every close game up to subpar goaltending and say he should have had it. Some people on LGW have such kneejerk reactions to SCORES and STATS, and use words like NEVER and ALWAYS when offering up their opinions of who sucks that minute. Only a Sith deals in absolutes :P

Ozzy will be fine, just needs to work through the rough spells, he'll be the guy at the end of the season so right now I think its fine to let Ozzy work through it and give Conks 50/50 starts.

HA. You are a funny one. Were you singing the same tune last season/playoffs? Osgood's stolen games plenty of times. He was great last night and indeed a huge reason as to at least getting a point.

I thought that Oz played good tonight compared to his last few starts. The first goal was on a bad give away by Huds, the second on a deflection with Mule in front of him, and the third was on the PP 4on3.

However 5 points out of six is very good but yet another loss to a strong team is what concerns me. I am so looking forward to the Boston game coming up to see how we match up against one of the best in the East this year.

Game 5 against Nashville and game 2 against Dallas, both in last year's playoffs. Especially the Nashville game- he was on fire.

It's silly, but I guess natural, for people to try and affix blame where there isn't much to be had. When the tying goal came in, just like everyone else, I was sorely disappointed and wanted to hurl my anger and ridicule at someone or something. But to see it again, it just happened. That happens. It's hockey. People don't like that, they don't want to shake their fist at the heavens and curse fate, they want something tangible to point the finger at.

Unfortunately for goalies, they're always standing right there as the puck goes by and are, of course, the easiest thing to put the bullseye on.

I give credit to most of everyone for understanding this (obvious) situation, but there always has to be some goofball that rolls in to start crap. Yes, it is frustrating the rather rotten luck Oz has had this season (despite the fact that he is still racking up the W's), but no, just because he didn't get a puck that was unsavable doesn't mean he can't make that ambiguous "big save" or whatever. That stop off the backboards rebound was proof and a half of that.

I caught a glimpse of the 3 headed beast. Hossa-Datsyuk-Zetterberg! I thought that should scare 'em and they were immediatley back on their heels and almost got scored on... Oh well. As was on display last night, Datsyuk is the most all-around skilled player in the NHL.

Do people realize that Wings only have 2 regulation losses? Sometimes teams get lucky and win one or two against wings...

Did anyone notice that Canucks were celebrating the ot win as if they won the cup lol... oh well:)

so Ozzie played his best game of the season and we still LOST.. can you imagine if he played bad?

like i said no denying he had a fantastic game.. BUT having said that he could have made 1000x highlight saves, he did not make them when it counts.. no matter what the score is. his save % and GAA are brutal he can thank the 4+ goals we score for him every night at this point, we all know this.

i truly he hope he gets it back more then anything.. but so far, like i said, every time the opponents shoot im thinking goal. conklin on the other hand im saying bring it on. its just the feeling you get when youre watching.. i dunno.

2 losses? 2 frickin losses?! 2 flippin friggin losses??!! This team is a joke. I am not watching hockey with this crappy product on the ice.

I was pretty mad....more than once the Nucks should have been short handed toward the end. Wings looked like they could have been a little more enthusiastic. I was pissed that Ozzie didn't use any "Matrix" moves. And yeah....when another team beats us they realy do the happy dance, don't they? They should and we should be happy to let them. We have the cup. And we have class.

Sometimes they just lose. Maybe it's the Wings fault, maybe the Nucks got lucky, maybe Toronto or Buttman set it up this way, maybe sometimes they just lose. Get over it. Who we playin next?

Ehhh not a bad game all things considered. Nucks stole the extra point with a hot goalie. It happens.

Wings overall played pretty well, dumb stuff happened but that's part of sports. Having to play with less guys because of the injuries and the cap seems like it has taken a little toll, guys where definitely a little more tired. Throw in a hot goalie and one point isn't so bad.

I don't see how anyone can say Ozzie didn't have a good game, you can't ask any goalie to make those saves on the goals that were scored and he stole a bunch that could have gone in.

Franzen's penalty is kind of ticky tacky, I prefer to have the players decide the winner of the game. 4-3 is lights out because there is so much room to work with, the 3 almost always end up smashed together down low in some vain attempt to have a pass bounce off them.

Can't wait to see them play the Habs, should be a good battle. Hopefully Cleary and Homer can get back in the lineup soon, still a pretty damn good effort considering they were only dressing 17/18 players.

That was not a bad game. Both teams played well and had great chances. Ozzie played great. I don't know why people are still upset. Ozzie made HUGE saves. Sometimes things just don't go your way. I think we should all be happy that the Wings are getting back on track, at least.
