We outplayed the opposition, no way this game should have gone to OT but what really gets me is that we were shutdown by a trash goaltender, Sanford (another nobody) is made to look like a star by the Wings once again. Ozzie was awesome, hey how about we finish when there is a pylon between the pipes mmmkay.

we played like a s*** in the rest of 3rd period after pavel scored..

well, I think Ozzie played really well. like the first big save in the first period

but look at this. stupid turn over by Huds in the 2nd period and our offenses were not as good as before games

I know Sanford played really well but in the OT, i dont know..

Franzen has been having difficulty with Hossa. I know Hossa pulled out the penalty, which brought out the score of Datysuk but both Hossa and Frazen have not been playing in their last 3 games... especially Franzen

good thinkg is the series between us and canucks have one more game and we can win that game probably

I think Wings were just hooked up because they think the canucks will be crap without Luongo..

Knew that was going to happen with the penalty call in OT.

The feeling of inevitability just kept sinking in.

Exactly my feeling. Our PK just isn't what it should be; even less so in OT.

It's so bizarre with Ozzie, though...while his record is just fine, his GAA and SV% are, let's be honest, atrocious. But he's been playing fantastic hockey throughout it. Only a handful of the goals he's given up have been softies and even some of those are debatable with screens, deflections, etc. It's a true example where stats don't tell the whole story. I'm not really worried about him, he's just snakebitten stats-wise. As long as his play and record holds, I couldn't give a damn if his SV% is < .900.

Time to call it a season, folks. This team is obviously not going anywhere.

This site has the worst "the sky is falling" syndrome I've ever seen.

No doubt, it's funny how the posts double after a loss, but when Detroit wins, there's not much talk nor support.

Jesus you people are just as annoying as those who do throw the team under the bus. No one is pressing the panic button. I'm (and others) am just pissed we lost.

Uhh....really?

Well, you can attribute that loss to character. You don't let a team run you over 45 seconds after you score a huge goal. Props to the Canucks. They were the better team in the end. At least we got the 1 point.

As for Ozzie, he played very well - I just think hes cursed. How many games has he allowed fewer than 3 goals this year?

It's not like they gave up a 2 on 1 break away goal to tie up the game. That play was a ridiculous deflection. The Nucks were just coming on. We just suck in OT it feels like we never force the OT it's always forced on us.

All I know is they don't hand out the Stanley Cup in November.

Somebody ought to tell the Vancouver Fan boy base that. I'm honestly not sure they know.

Not playing our best hockey and still one of the best teams. Thank goodness we have another 50-60 games to iron it all out.

No worries.

I'm sure this loss will sting that much more because of the way it happened. To be honest- it feels like a quicker, less painful version of the Pittsburgh loss. Play a great game and get the nutshot in the dieing seconds (or in the Pitts game- in the dying 10 mins).

Meh. It's one of hundreds of losses we'll watch over the years- just be content knowing you'll watch about 3 times as many victories ;)

It's a confidence thing. I would love to feel confident when we have a one goal lead with 2 minutes to go. And lately, I don't.

Osgood made more amazing saves than the Wings had shots in the last two minutes. If you want to point at someone for not winning the game, point at the offense for not scoring a goal when they needed to.

Or point at the defense for breaking down immediately after scoring the go-ahead goal, and Franzen in particular for screening Osgood on Sedin's tying goal. Franzen then followed it up by taking a really s***ty penalty in overtime.

Osgood was by far Detroit's top player tonight; you can hate on him if you want, but he was still the best Red Wing.

Agreed!

Alright, I'm off before I get further pissed off with all these overreactions being thrown around.

That's whole a different story though.

And agreed!

It's truthfully getting really annoying around here. And just further proves my point that unless you played the game at a competitive level, chances are you just do not understand the game of hockey.

Can't wait until Cleary and Holmstrom come back so McCarty and Kopecky can get the hell off the ice.

The problem here is clearly not Osgood. It's representative of clutch collapses and terrible defense. This team simply needs to shape up on defense or it will go nowhere come playoff time.

I'm not hating on Osgood, by the way. I root for him and want him to be the clear cut #1.

But frankly, Conks has been outplaying him lately and I wish Osgood was outplaying Conks.

Or...the Wings are playing better in front of Conklin....hmmm...

Textbook interference. And blatant at that.

It could really have gone either way. Had both players stayed up they'd have probably called nothing.

That said, it certainly qualified was interference and was a valid penalty to call by the rules, so I'm not going to sit here and complain about the call.

I dont think we outplayed them. I counted several times - particularly in our own zone - where we waited for the puck to come to us instead of skating to it. We didnt have the jump tonight. We're getting a lot of points resting on our laurels here, and thats habit-forming. You cant just turn on the work ethic once the season rolls around.

I think the injuries are having a bigger effect than anyone is saying. Homer is not an impressive puck handler by any means, but god is he an upgrade over Kopecky. Kopecky is not and never will be skilled enough to play on the top line. The PP is one thing - he can park his big body and handle the puck minimally - but otherwise, its a huge mistake. Id rather see Frazen promoted to the first line, and Hudler or Filppula promoted to Zetterbergs wing. Not that Franzen, Hudler, or Filppula played well tonight, but they're better suited to cycle, handle, and carry the puck that a guy who can barely stay on his skates.

Ideally, Id really, really like to see the Wings look into adding a Dallas Drake type player at the deadline. This team needs somebody else to lead the way in terms of work ethic.

ozzie is not capable of making that timely big save.. no matter how many saves he made tonight, 2-1 with 2 min left (lead) and OT on a PK.. absolutely no confidence in him this year. conklin all the way, the guy is a wall back there.. stick with him for now!

god i hate the canucks.. losing to them more then losing to the leafs.

Wings seem to have some problems with their starts and ends this season. At the start of the season, we were terrible in the 1st and 2nd periods, then get it together (somewhat) in the 3rd. The past few games, the Wings start well, then end badly. Just seems strange. The only time the Wings have played a full 60 minutes of hockey was the 4-0 win against the Oilers a few games back, and one of the few times where we won by more than 2 goals. It's definitely something they need to work on throughout the season.

5 out of 6 points is nothing to sneeze at. Unfortunately, how we got those points tends to leave one lacking with enthusiasm.
