SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted December 7, 2008 The picture is grainy and rough it is from a cell phone. I also look like a giant excited tool, most likely because I am standing next to Pavel f'n Datsyuk! I can just picture what Datsyuk's thinking..."This guy easily perspires and is shaking in his boots. Why?" Just messin with ya.
Booster313 138 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 (edited) It must be a great week for Red Wings fans. After reading about Munkees chance encounter I never dreamed that I would have my own opportunity to rub elbows with greatness so soon. Last night my girlfriend and I went down to the MGM to have dinner at Bourbon Steak before the game. We headed over to the Joe and enjoyed a nice comeback victory. After the game we decided to head back to Bourbon for a couple more drinks. We were sitting at the bar enjoying our drinks when around 11pm, in walk Hossa, Kopecky, and Hudler! I was in awe. We offered to scoot down so they could sit at the bar together and enjoyed chatting with the trio for about 30-40minutes! When we were posing for the picture Hudler had at first given the “thumbs up”. I told him that he looked exactly like that at the cup rally, and asked if he had, had a couple of drinks that day. Kopecky started laughing and slapped him on the back. I complimented Marian on his game tieing goal and thanked him for making the decision to come play here this year. I told him that I am hoping he is able to work something out and stay here next season but never the less I am enjoying watching him play this one. He said “Thank you…and we’ll see” on next year. I also asked him if there was any truth to the rumor that he and Gaborik were planning on packaging themselves together next season. He laughed and said “Absolutely not, I haven’t heard that one yet.” All three of them were really gracious, it truly was a once in a lifetime opportunity. puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 Boost, that is absolutely incredible! How cool for you, three of the guys at one meeting!! You deserved this, for sure, and I know the guys were thrilled to meet a true fan, who respected their space and feelings. You can see on their faces, they are happy to meet you. So Hossa is just as cool as I have always thought he would be. Awesome. You look very handsome, too, if I might add that observation.

Yes Loo, Hossa is just as cool as you could imagine...most Hockey players I've met have been though. I have met players before but never had the opportunity to sit and actually have a real conversation with them. And thank you for the compliment Loo. I think I look short in the photo...I must have been slouching. I'm like 5'11 and I look like I am almost the same height as Hudler!

hokeychik22 17 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 (edited) very lucky. Pavel is the best!! Like what he said when you asked why he was buying all that stuff. i'm very jealous of everyone and their encounters. nice pictures posted too. i've had some, but none like that. i know that my sister works at Andiamos in Royal Oak and Brett Lebda (which i saw him a couple times driving around royal oak myself) goes in to eat basically everyday. I get to hear many stories about him too Also i found out he loves his cheesecake! my sister has also seen Downey, Maltby and Rob Schneider at her work before. Also for anyone that lives in St. Clair Shores or around there since Malts i'm told lives in Grosse Pointe i heard he goes to Nino Salvaggios in SCS a lot. Statts 4 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 PFFFF After the Wings won the Cup, I went to Subway wearing my SC champs hat. Kid working there was Ty Conklin’s brother, he told me he was gonna “charge me extra for the hat.” I said the sandwich should be free and better luck next year…yeah my story blows balls compared to the others. Lucky bastards

ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 You guys are all lucky as hell. I bought a signed copy of Gordie Howe's book from Mr. Hockey himself on the concourse last month when I was at the Joe, but that's the extent of my Red Wings good fortune. Never_Retire_Steve 35 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 Definately jealous of both you guys. I have always heard that one of the best guys off the ice is DMac. Both Don Cherry and Ray Scampinella have both said that he stands out in terms of class and would definitely be the current Wing that I would like to meet. egroen 384 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 (edited) Hudler looks like he is standing on his tippy-toes! I met Datsyuk back in '03 at a bar. He was playing pool with a few friends, and I was the only one in the bar that recognized him at the time (I was already a huge fan). His english was terrible then, but he listened attentively as I blathered on about what a fan of his I was, signed my hat and hoped with me that Larionov would be back that year. A floozey at the bar later hit on him and he did not give her the time of day, but was still polite. Oh- and I have a russian friend who went out to eat at a russian restaurant with a friend and was invited over to join Fedorov and Kozlov. Fedorov ended up sticking them with the entire bill and stated it would be an honor for them to buy his meal (about $600). There is more to that one but I won't post it here (they didn't pay it).... Booster313 138 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 thats hilarious about the Gaborik n Hossa package. To actually get to ask the players some of the s*** that gets posted its great Yeah he was pretty shocked to hear that. He must have been thinking...where do people come up with this stuff. I had a great time talking to him. He sat right next to my girlfriend at the bar so the three of us talked the most. It was great!

I wonder if Hudler was?! Do you really think he does that in pictures? Do other short people do that? As far as the Fedorov thing...I have heard mixed things regarding Feds. Some say he's a great guy others an arrogant ass. I'd be curious to hear the rest of the story if you want to PM me.
ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted December 9, 2008 He must be. He doesn't look like he's giving more than a couple of inches away to Kopecky, but the actual difference has got to be 5" or more. He looks almost as tall as the Hoss.
