If Cleary continues to play the way he is, I can see a trade or two to improve our defense.

Im pissed Brian Rafalski has a NTC. Offense is not our problem. Defense in our own zone is the problem. I would kill for a guy like Anton Volchenkov on this team. And Ottawa just so happens to be looking for a puck moving Dman. Every time Rafalski gets pushed off the puck, lets a guy get pass him and move into the slot, and doesnt keep the puck in, it reminds me of the reason Holland didnt offer 5+ million to Schneider.

Someone didnt do their homework, because Rafalski isnt much better, if at all.

Cleary has been underperforming for whatever reason since hsi injury last year. If he can't recover from it, maybe his time with us is nearing an end.

But there are others I'd drop first: Lebda and Kopecky. Trade them for a competent 6th defenseman.

Players need to be benched. Plain and simple. So-called STAR players need to be benched. A message needs to be sent. I'm so glad I haven't had the misfortune to watch this game like the rest of you (streaming feed died for me), but your descriptions set the tone. This team doesn't want it. Maybe Hossa. But the rest? Not a chance.

Thats something you fix through trades. Since we have no cap space, we either sit on a spolied group of guys, or we make a substantial trade for some hunger, work ethic, and energy.

Wings need to get there s*** together!!! We look slow tonight and why are we having so much trouble on the power play? We cant even get the puck in and set up??? Dang I hope we have a strong 3rd. By the way, I miss Drake he would go and make something happen with a big hit or a strong hustle play in a game like this. Oh well, COME ON BOYS!!!

I'd like to give the guy a break because he was pretty solid in the playoffs this year, but I've said, "WTF Rafalski?!" more times than anything.

I'm pretty sure the next Wings game on Versus is one against the Avs, which shows how Versus is about 10 years behind when it comes to knowing where the rivalries are at in the NHL.

Could someone explain to me why Tomas Kopecky takes up a roster spot that could be going to Darren Helm?

I respect the fact that your a Wing fan, but you gotta change that stupid avatar.

That and haroldsnepsts' post (that the wings need to be in a big lossing streak to wake up) would most likely help. Something needs to be done to get some consistency on this team. We do well in the first and seconds, then flush it down the toilet in the 4rd. Play crappy in the first 2 periods and explode in the 3rd. Offense is good, but the D is so terrible inconsistent that I would most likely like it to not exist at all, at least we won't be continuously disappointed with their plays.

Ok so im listening to this game at work and i just couldnt wait to get home and see the comments because i knew i would agree with almost all of them. CAN THIS TEAM HOLD A F#CKING LEAD EVER?????????? I mean how do you blow a game in the first period? This team is playing defensively/goaltending wise as bad as it gets. Craig Anderson is stopping 40 shots a night for Florida but we let a mediocre team already put 4 in. We got our 2 goals from secondary scoring and the team doesn't get fired up to play some shut'em down hockey, seriously? If not for a terrible call at the end of the last game against the Canucks they probably would have fu&ked that up too. This team needs to wake the f0ck up. They better get their s*** together for the 3rd and win this or it will be another embarrassing loss.

I dont want to make it sound like I'm ungrateful for having him - hes a great offensive defenseman. But do we need offensive defenseman? We need Dmen who can make a decent outlet pass, but we dont need pretty passes and goals from our Dmen. What we really need are Dmen who police the slot and the front of the net. What we need are Dmen who can pin any forward in along the boards. What we need are guys who are willing to fight for the puck - be the first man on the puck.

This team needs a few more hard-hat players. The said thing is, I dont expect any trades out of this team outside of maybe a minor move. This eerily reminds me of the years where we as fans cried for hard-working, gritty players and nothing came from Holland until we had suffered through 2 or 3 bad playoff oustings.
