YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 "I don't think most of our players can play harder than they are..." What the f*** is up with Babcock? Wheres the hard-ass attitude?
ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 Babcock sickens me with his talk. "Well, we played a good game...it just didnt work for us...blah blah blah covering my ass." did seem that bad to me, the lines just could get anything going. That happens, the D is looking much better though
TheOwl 77 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 The defense will come with time, I have no idea why Babby is mixing up the lines so much. If you can't score, defense is meaningless. Keep the lines together, and keep them through the bad and good. The all star games teaches us, good players with no chemistry together won't score. Keep the lines the same. Zion 93 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 What a waste of an HD game on Center Ice. I get one a night, and was really looking forward to this one. Had the smiling baby, an adult beverage, wife took a nap... the stage was set. Then... this...
CrossoverThrash 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 We need a prolonged losing streak. I remember last season when we had that, what, five game losing streak and I think we were better for it. To hell with my Weekend Picks (and curse me all you want for saying this), but I hope we lose tomorrow. And Monday. And Thursday. Nothing else seems to get through to these guys. And Hossa's groin was clearly bothering him. Not a strong game for him. Or get a ton of injury's and have another Franzen story

I dont want Babcock to be able to pull his typical 08-09 post-game bulls*** absolving all his millionaire players for playing like s***. I want some rub outs. Some domination. Then again, we're playing San Jose soon, right? That should take care of itself.
thedatsyukian 7 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 Has anyone noticed how much more dump and chase we do this year? We seem to have a terrible time getting into the opposition's zone cleanly.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 (edited) did seem that bad to me, the lines just could get anything going. That happens, the D is looking much better though Against the Stars? Frankly, I could care less how the defense looked in tonights game because they SHOULD've looked good tonight. Half the players Dallas had up front were a bunch of no namers against a pack of elite defenseman. The lines couldnt get anything going because, except for a few of them, they didnt fight for it. They didnt hustle. Theres absolutely no defense that can stop our talent when we combine it with a good work ethic. The Dallas stars are the ******* worst defensive team in this league. Turco is having one of the worst year of his careers. And yet we could only manage one goal. Edited December 13, 2008 by YoungGuns1340
Matt 1,049 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 Hossa was obviously laboring tonight. Very short strides, no explosiveness... I'd rest him tomorrow. And that game? That... that was gross.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 Not even close. Obviously you didn't see the Pens game. The Pens are a good team. The stars are the worst in the West.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 Has anyone noticed how much more dump and chase we do this year? We seem to have a terrible time getting into the opposition's zone cleanly. Yeah I noticed that - I also notice that we aren't getting to the pucks first when we dump it in, and 7 times out of 10 the opposition has the puck right back out of the zone in a matter of seconds. In reality, we really should be dominating on a pretty regular basis against the low totem pole teams such as Dallas.
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 The Red Wings played pretty well tonight. Things can't bounce their way every night guys. I would say they have won plenty of games this season that they probably didn't deserve to and tonight went the other way. It's going to happen over 82 games. At least the Wings get a chance to get after it again tomorrow night. Sammy was absoutely brutal tonight. I wish someone could look at every shift and count the number of crap passes and useless shots (into the defense) that Sammy had. I also hope Babcock finds some combination of forward lines and sticks to them. I am all for line juggling, but at least give the guys a chance to mesh. Put ZDH together and see what happens. Cleary, Franzen, and Hossa is a hell of a second line. Tomorrow I want to see a strong start from Ozzie in goal and Chelios playing for Lebda. Yes I know Lebda scored the goal, but he is just awful defensively. Tough loss, but it needed to happen. Coasting to wins isn't good for anybody. The Red Wings will be better tomorrow. BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 Has anyone noticed how much more dump and chase we do this year? We seem to have a terrible time getting into the opposition's zone cleanly. It's a sound strategy when facing the neutral zone trap. But to succeed with it, you have to play with some grit. Forecheck hard and punish the opposing D with solid hits. It wears a team down over the course of a game and can force turnovers that lead to good scoring chances. But they're playing such a limp wristed game right now that there's no chance to win if they can't get it done with their skill. Usually they can, but not tonight. ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 someone mentioned this last game, this is how Bowman did it. A few games nothing but offense worked, a few games only PP, a few games just goalies, then PK, then D. What did he say something like the season is nothing but a very long series of practices. We are going to make the playoffs, right now we are just seeing what works and what to fix. The last few games the PP has fallen off, but the defense is coming on. 2/1 lose is better then a 6/

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 (edited) not a defense problem, not a goalie problem, not an offense problem, not a coach problem an effort problem!!! Of course its not. This team has talent and smarts coming out the ass, which is why their efforts of the course of this season are inexcusable across the board. You give some effort, and with this kind of talent, you win games in dominating fashion. The Wings give the same amount of effort every game, and when a team actually shuts down their offense in the end, they fall to pieces. I guarantee if the Wings played 3 periods the way they played the last period, the score easily wouldve been reversed. Guest mindfly Report post Posted December 13, 2008 (edited) Just want Mike Babcock and perhaps Ken Holland to act, act now and fast! It's obvious that very fundamental things such as work ethic, Defense, Goaltending and even today Offense is a major problem...Something needs to be done...If it's a trade, linechange, bench a few star players who don't play well enough, send messages to the team, make them "suffer" doesn't matter just make it STOP. ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 my god, we looked ok out there Turco played great, and our offense couldn't click. 2 weeks ago people were crying about D and some said if we lose at least let it be a low scoring game, well...
