Is it really a time for changing goalies and 4th liners?

Answer itself. For me, yes.

I kept saying in my for long time. Some people just said Howard is not the best goalie in his team and Larsson does.

Ok. Then lets bring up either of them and give them chances to play.

Ozzie's save percentage is lower than .900, and average GAA is over 3.20, which is just awful. He makes key saves but he always looks lost like today's game. Conks has been ok so far this season. If it is already passed the Feberaury, I would not suggest this plan but it is still not even 30 games in the season. We need time to test our young players like Helm, Leino, Howard, Larsson, and Abelkalder who can bring some effect. Then if they play good, let's keep them in the team.

I think it is time for change something.

1/3 of season has gone and 2/3 seasons are left. This is heading for the end of December.

Some people are still saying it is still not close to March and April.

Truth is that time is going quicker than we expect and the effort and motivation problems of our teams cannot fixed in a short period.

well at least to light a fire under someones ass. i think maybe people are a little too comfortable in their roles so maybe its time for some more healthy scratches and some callups. i know were in a tight cap situation but there needs to be some sort of shakeup even if it means a trade.

pretty sure kops would have to clear waivers first.. and that wouldnt happen.....

i would clap him out the door. he is completely useless and 100% expendable. the red wings must have 15 guys in the minors who could do his job better.

I do agree with the thought that we need a spark. I wouldnt mind sitting Malts down (he has been invisible out there, I know a lot of people love him but you gotta be honest). Put Drapes on a line with 2 young wingers who have some speed and desire and are hungry for the puck and you might see that fourth line do something.

As far as goalies, well, it sucks but we're in a bind there. No one pressing hard enough to come up.

Maltby played very poorly to start the season, got scratched and played better, now he is back to poor play. Draper in my opinion has seemed like he is going through the motions a great deal too. I dunno about goaltending, because it hasn't been great, but it hasn't been horrible. I blame more on terrible turnovers such as the ones tonite than I do on the goaltenders. We'll see I guess, we all know Holland is probably more on it than we are.

I had always tried to give Kopecky the benefit of the doubt because he has been injured so much. But he is useless. Penalty kill, no. Power play, no. Four on Four, no, ect. At least Maltby can be used for the penalty kill. He is such a big body, but does nothing with it. That said though, he is not even close to the Wings only problem and getting rid of him still won't fix the goaltender/defensive problems. It will be interesting to see how the coach staff/management responds.

Blame goaltending too. Its true Osgood has been left high on many occasions, but you can tell he doesn't trust himself in net with how many rebounds and uncharacteristic "softies" hes letting in.

Ozzy has been half the reason the defense looks bad. He can't even make simple saves, he can't control rebounds, and is good for spotting the other team a goal in the 1st min of the game. On top of that Draper/Maltby/Kopecky suck all of them are useless; we have plenty of other good face off people. Lebda has been playing better, Lilja has played good, and Kronner has sucked, Raffi and Lids are coming around; lids more then Raffi though. Franzen seems to float and so does Hossa. These guys can't be proud of how they are playing right now.

In the perfect world, Kopecky and Maltby would be scratched for Abdelkader and Leino, but that will not happen.

Maltby is a lot more valueable then Draper. Draper is getting 1.5 million and is by far the worst player on the team. He's worthless.

thats completely false.... drapers one of the best faceoff men on the team and in the NHL.

He's also -11, the worst on the team (worse then his linemates as well) with 3 points and getting 1.5 million. He's great on faceoffs, then the him and his line melts down.

Listen junior, winning a face-off and letting the puck go right into your net is still worthless.

Ironic, a guy who has been a member here for 3 days calling a long time member junior :scared:

1.5 million nowadays is nothing, Drapes isn't going to score anymore but he sure as hell can still kill penalties and take faceoffs....2 things that an Owl might not be able to see from way up in his tree but these things are very important in close games.

Abdelkader-Helm-Downey might make games watchable

Not to mention actually provide a bit of energy like a 4th line is supposed to do.

Our 4th line atm must be the worst in the league. Not in terms of skill, but in terms of purpose and production. If we're going to have a 4th line for scoring, which we shouldnt, then it should at least do that.

An energy line is what this team needs to give it a kick start, as well as some roster moves to let them know their current play wont be tollerated.

Probably the biggest overstatement I've ever read on this board.

If you really think that, you don't watch enough hockey.
