Refs/Toronto video room blow another game

Anyone else catch the end of this one? Crosby deflected a goal OBVIOUSLY with his stick above the cross bar, and they called it a good goal. Bettman must have called immediately to make sure the goal counted for his little boy scout. I'm pissed off and I'm not even a Buffalo fan.

This thread wouldn't exist if Crosby was not involved. It wasn't obvious. Get over the obsession.

This.

Will watch the highlights on the NHL Network. If it's a no goal and it was obviously called wrong, f*** Toronto.

It wasn't obvious, but it was very similar to the Beauchemin OT goal that everyone and his mother thought was a no-goal on this board when it happened.

Exactly.

BUT OMG It was cindy crosby!! it's a leaugue conspiracy by Bettman for his golden boy!!!!

So I guess there's a conspiracy to promote Beuchemin as well??

The Crosby goal wasn't that clear. Unless it's a ridiculously hight stick, these days in the new NHL, they're gonna count the goal.

EDIT: and even if the call was blown, it had nothing to do with Crosby. seriously. break out the tin foil hats.

I'm sure this will quickly turn into another "You're just a Crosby hater" thread....

Didn't see it, I'd have to watch the replay to see

Well seeing as how it started with the ridiculous premise that the goal was allowed because it was Crosby, where else was there for the thread to go?

Seriously. I can't believe there's people so obsessed with him here. You'd think we lost to the Pens in the playoffs last year instead of won the Stanley Cup.

Exactly. To overturn on-ice decisions they need conclusive evidence to rule against it. There was no conclusive evidence. Just listen to the commentators during the game.

So I took screencaps of the shoddy NHL.com highlights at full screen with 2 of the best images I could find (maybe if someone finds a higher quality version will post it):

From the looks of it, you cannot tell at all the location of where the puck hits the stick compared to the crossbar, not even ruling out a glove or something else hitting it.. so unless it can be proven the ruling on the ice should stand, and those going nuts over Crosby should try switching to a better cologne than Crosby obsession for men.

That was a bad call, did anyone see Crosby go over and plead to the refs during hte review?

Much like the Sabres players who were signalling high stick and pleading with the ref?

I'm going frame for frame on my DVR right now. The stick is clearly below his shoulders, but as for the crossbar, it's pretty close when the puck actually contacts his stick. Might've been above, might not. When it's that close, they're gonna call it a goal, no matter whose name is on the back of the jersey, whether it's Beauchemin or Crosby.

Crosby skated over to the refs while they were on the line, if you read the refs lips he gives it ot crosby for trying to plead his case. Gut reaction though that looked above.

CT, it wasn't up to the ref.

They just had an interview with Crosby about the goal, I'm guessing you won't believe him but he says he was trying to find out the ruling when he was talking to the ref, and even says he thought his top hand might've been above the crossbar but knew that the bottom part was on an angle down, so maybe that saved him.

Basically it sounds like he wasn't even sure.
