Nashville announcers compared Lilja to Lidstrom after the last goal....so we should be set even if Lidstrom is out.

That play was reminiscint of Nick. Fake the hard slap shot, good vision, set up the one-timer from the slot. Andreas is going to have to do that a couple more times if he wants to be on Nick's level though.

Further update from MLIVE:

Sipple: Lidstrom's injury involved x-rays

Posted by George James Malik December 26, 2008 22:03PM

The Detroit Free Press's George Sipple reports good news...of a sort...regarding Red Wings defenceman Nicklas Lidstrom's injury:

December 26, Detroit Free Press: Nicklas Lidstrom left Friday's game against the Predators with a lower body injury and will not return. Advertisement

I spoke to Wings general manager Ken Holland at the start of the second intermission and he said Lidstrom left to get x-rays and they came back negative.

Then that's definitely not a knee/groin tweak...That's a shot-blocking injury.

I've never wished bodily injury on a Detroit Red Wing, but Tomas Kopecky is testing my limits.

agreed i've actually defended him early in the season saying give him time. But we now have seen him with time and it really has made no difference. I really wish we had the Kopecky that was called up against Calagry 3 years ago, the one who would bust people up in the GR, not this guy.

From MLIVE:

Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom left early in the second period of Friday's game in Nashville with an undisclosed lower-body injury and will not return to the game. General manager Ken Holland said Lidstrom went for X-rays, which were negative. He would not reveal the nature of the injury. Lidstrom will be re-evaluated Saturday. He played one shift in the second period before leaving.

General manager Ken Holland said Lidstrom went for X-rays, which were negative. He would not reveal the nature of the injury but mindfly reckons that it's without a doubt a knee injury and could be put on LTIR. Mindfly says he may re-evaluate the situation once the game is finished and give his final prognosis shortly after.

Yeah, I used to defend him when he was first in the lineup, but from what I've seen he's shown little to no improvement. The rare times he does try to hit people, he's usually the one who ends up on his ass.
