A huge game against the Sharks up next + a huge 3rd period effort last night + bad team tonight = another Wings poor defensive effort?

I hope not, but the formula is definitely there.

This should be a good game indeed, but there is another game played at the sametime that the Wings play tonight, that game takes place in San Jose as the Sharks take on the Calgary Flames tonight!!

If any of you forgot, the Flames beat the living piss out of SJ lastweek in Calgary. Also if the Wings pull off the Victory and the Flames win, the game on Saturday (against San Jose) will be for first overall in the West!!!

Just thought I would add this!!

GO WINGS!!!

Does anyone know if Kevin Westgarth will suit up for the Kings? He's my best friend's cousin, and he was recently called up by Los Angeles, so we're looking forward to seeing him play. I wish we had a fighter in the lineup (not Lilja), because Kevin is huge, and he loves to drop the gloves.

Hopefully Dallas was just a blip and we'll be back to our 2009 defensive play.

Depending on the timing, I may be up in time to see the 4rd tomorrow morning (all praise West Coast games)

Per MLive -

Update from Thursday's morning skate at the Staples Center: Defenseman Derek Meech won't play tonight against the Kings due to a charley horse sustained in a knee-on-knee check by Anaheim's Ryan Carter during the second period of Wednesday's game.

Meech returned to play in the third period but was hobbling around after the game, likewise on Thursday.

"Just one of those things where you can't do much about it, just got to ice it,'' Meech said. "It usually gets stiffer the next day. I just got to wait for (the swelling) to come down a bit.''

He said he doesn't think any tests are necessary.

"It's just a bad bruise on my thigh,'' he said.

Asked if he thought it was a day-to-day injury, coach Mike Babcock said, "Day to day in this league can be a lot of things. We'll know better tomorrow, (depending) on how he responds today.''
