Datsyuk Update

Figured it was something like that. His last shift was the one where he went end to end, with a sick one-handed dangle at center ice. He wasn't hit hard or anything, just fired off a shot that was blocked and then stopped in the corner and skated to the bench, no indication he was hurting.

Please sit out on the All Star game Dats. Please- the fans won't mind! We know that a meaningless game, while fun, contributes nothing towards the 12th Cup.

Its the Anahiem-Montreal star game. All stars my ass.

If you remember, a couple weeks ago when the reserves were announced, an unimpeachable source said that Pasha was not going to be at the ASG. Remember???

Clever move, you little devil...And you are not far from a beautiful hotel at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon...which everyone should see at least once in their lives. It's the off season at the hotel...what better place for a week of R&R????

Umm Kira. It was you who told us, not Rabia.

he's fine. Just smarter than the average NHL'er who is actually attending the All Star Sham.

Have a nice little vacation, Pasha!

Lidstrom would argue with you about that but he can't hear you because his Cup rings are in his ears.

Sorry to burst your bubble, sweetheart, but I was not the unimpeachable source. I only repeated what that person told me.

First of all, Kira- you can burst my bubble any day of the week.

Second of all, I think I know who you're talking about (as I've alluded to back when you made the original remark about his plans for the game). But I still wanted to make a half-hearted attempt at a joke. (umm... as you can see it's a bit of a habit of mine)

:D You know me Kira. I'm just some dude who wears the same Datsyuk lucky shirt for each game without washing it until the playoffs are over. Gross, eh? I started that tradition after we blew it games 3 and 4 of the Nashville series... I assumed they lost because I washed my Dats shirt. I didn't wash it after game 4 and BAM! We're back on track. We end up molesting the Aves and I'm thinking- damn this shirt is lucky.

Haha. Sorry, I thought I'd justify to the interwebs why I smelt bad during the game ;)

The only starter who has earned a spot is (probably) Ryan Getzlaf. f*** the other starters, and SIT Datsyuk. Too bad Norris Nick couldn't have "a slight groin pull" to keep him out of this garbage of an event.

So what you're all saying is that he left an important 3-3 game, one that he could have helped win, but instead faked an injury so he could skip the all-star game and have a vacation? And you're all OK with this and actually saying "good job Pavel"? How about all the fans that bought expensive tickets to go see the Wings win? Are they OK with this also?

You're being ridiculous. Just because he's not seriously hurt doesn't mean that he shouldn't have come out of a meaningless regular season game to ensure he doesn't get seriously hurt and miss a bunch of time. He didn't come off the ice to miss the ASG. He had a hip flexor. He's our best player and they should be cautious with him.

That's not what people on here are saying. The general idea is that "it was a slick move by Datsyuk"

Oh, and "meaningless regular season game" ? There's no such thing until you clinch the presidents trophy. Also, like I said before, tell this to the fans who, perhaps, waited all year and bought expensive tickets to go see the Wings win or at least give it their best.

Well I see it more as the Wings being cautious with their best player. You can choose to see it however you want. We didn't loose the game because Datsyuk came out, we lost it because our Defense sucks lately.

Until you clinch the Presidents' trophy? What's so meaningful about that? The truth is, when you're the Red Wings, regular season truly doesn't matter. I know it's kind of nice to finish first in the league, but how about we let the other teams kill themselves over it this year while we coast through the regular season, and arrive to the playoffs semi-well-rested rather than burnt out?

I won't lose a second of sleep over Datsyuk missing the ASG. Our plague of minor injuries couldn't have happened at a better time.

EDIT: Also, it's a lot more likely for Datsyuk to have left the game because he was actually injured rather than just to put on a front and have an excuse for the ASG. Look at Lidstrom, he's "injured" but still finished the game.

Aw, gee, I didn't know ya cared...

You're almost as bad as I am. I sent a message to Pasha every day during the playoffs last year wishing him luck. And it worked! Well, almost every game. If we didn't win, he scored points, so I prefer to think that the luck went that way on the days we lost. The day he scored the hattie I sent him a message that said, "Good things come to those who wait but better things come to those with a wee bit of impatience in their hearts." I think it worked.

If I run into you I'll be sure to remember the Febreeze. ;)
