I don't think the wings have made an official announcement, but for anyone interested in attending the red wings open practice this year, it will be happening on 28 March, 2009. There as of yet is no time mentioned, or fee, it is simply listed on the wings events calendar. Just a little info for people who need to make advance plans for this to keep the date open.

Went last year during a 3-day weekend in Detroit. Watched the Wings lose in overtime to the Blues on Friday, practice on Saturday and then win 1-0 in overtime (Mule) over Nashville.

The practice was hilarious. Babs got on the microphone, thanked everyone for coming, plugged Cheli's Chili (Chelios smiled and waved to everyone) and then gave the microphone to Nick, who tried to put Cheli under the hot lamp, but when given the mike, told everyone that Nick would be signing autographs at Cheli's for an hour after practice. Pretty funny.

if it indeed happens, expect the team to be suspended for the next game for some arbitrary reason...

hossa's laces are too tight... SUSPENSION!!!

zetterberg's new contract is too fair... SUSPENSION!!!

rafalski doesn't have enough hair on his head... SUSPENSION!!!

There was only one last year too.

I went last year and sat on the end of the ice where Draper, Maltby, Cleary, Downey, ect. where. If I can get my parents to take me again this year I'm sitting on the other end with Hank, Nick, Pav, and Mule. Just to make it even. But with my luck they'll switch it up and I'll end us seeing the same guys.

There's only ONE open practice all season? Wow.

I know.

And then you look down the street and see the fan reaction to Tigerfest.

All of the players were present giving autographs and talking with fans.

You wan more butts in the seats and get fans connected to players why not try actually having the players connect with the fans. It goes a long way.

Particularly if you're coming from far away, and rarely get the chance to come out. I'm lucky if I can make it to the Joe once a year, coming from Hamilton, ON...

I was going to purchase tickets for both March 27th and 29th games. Since I'll be in

Detroit area, may as well make it a 3 day fest with the RW's. Thanks , I might of missed that bit

of info!

I've seen them practice in Traverse City, but the Joe is special.

GO WINGS

A bit off topic. What the heck does your sign in your picture say?

LMAO.

Nothing tops a hockey sense of humor.

I'm not gonna lie, it's not my sign, but I thought it was way too funny to pass up. Kudos to who ever designed it. I wish it showed up better though... The original picture was much bigger, and showed the refs all conversing by the score keeper, with one on the phone (must have been about a questionable goal).

Dude, I did that all that junk too. McCarty came back that weekend, in fact he gave me a smile when we bang on the glass during the warm up, then at the practice he tossed me a puck. Kick ass!

But my point is, I have the Cheli's thing recorded on my camera. I'm going to watch that. Too funny!
