Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted January 31, 2009 I really, really hope the Wings are showcasing Filppula and Kopecky with all this unearned ice time, namely Flip on the PP and Kopecky on...well...any sort of time. That has to the reason why he's out every other shift and killing penalties, otherwise Babcock is crazy. Kopecky is brutal. Fillpula actually does some good things every once and a while. BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted January 31, 2009 This team is cruising. That's not good or bad, but that's what they are doing. When they were pushed by Washington they scored immediately on the PP.
BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted January 31, 2009 seems like every time i look up cleary is on the ice I'm getting the feeling that he is seeing increased ice time due to Homer being out more than Z being out.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted January 31, 2009 Not a chance. Someone would pick him up. One game shouldn't convince you otherwise. And Kronner is a career +38. Yeah let's get rid of that because he's having a tough year. Same with Osgood. The guy has been too good for too long to just give up on. Kronner also spent a lot of time playing with Lidstrom earlier in his career. At any rate, people seem to forget that Kronwall has been mediocre for most of his career. His great late sesason playoff performance last year was the exception, not the rule.

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted January 31, 2009 I really, really hope the Wings are showcasing Filppula and Kopecky with all this unearned ice time, namely Flip on the PP and Kopecky on...well...any sort of time. While I think Flip deserves some PP time after toughing it out on the third line all year and not getting any PP time whatsoever, the reason he's obviously there is we're short a Hank and a Homer. Kopecky, well, that's a goddamn mystery. Abdelkader and Leino have both been far more impressive than him.

More then likely, he's seeing more ice in Homers place, and Fillpula is seeing more in Z's place, or so it seems.
ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted January 31, 2009 (edited) Don't read too much into that second goal guys. It hit a leg and made Theo go down and out. I know its a goal, and I'll take it, but its a gimmie goal nonetheless. Edited January 31, 2009 by ShanahanMan

Fillpula actually does some good things every once and a while. Yeah, I agree that Flip does. He got an assist on that goal, although I deflection off your stick isn't much of an assist, but he wouldn't be my first choice out on the PP when we're down a goal. Kopecky, though...I'm speechless. Reminds me of earlier in the season where he got time on the 1st line because he got 1 goal standing in front of the net on the PP.

That's a good goal all around in my book. Pretty much just like the Kozlov goal. Edited January 31, 2009 by Heroes of Hockeytown

Flip has been ok today, not great, but ok.

Wingsallwin 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2009 (edited) Isn't it the last year contract of Kopecky in the Wings? I think he will be RFA but we are not going to resign kopecky. Leino and Abdelkader have been far more impressive than him. I don't know anything about the friendship between Kopecky and Hossa but I think not resigning with Kopecky really does not matter with the resigning possibility with Hossa if we have enough cap rooms. Haha I was thinking the same thing at the time. They *thought* he got two goals, but it was a mistake. It was taken away from him later in the game.

They thought he had two, the Wings lobbied to get him credit for the other one, but it was determined it went in cleanly off Pavel's shot and he didn't touch. Nevertheless, I hear you. The one he did get, Nick spoon-fed to him with a floating wrister and he managed to not f*** it up and get his stick on it.

Yes, Kopecky is UFA after this season and the Wings should NOT resign him.
ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted January 31, 2009 It still counts right? Should we give it back? I'm simply saying it doesn't make up for the lackluster play. It was a lucky goal and really need to step it up if we're gonna come out of this with a win.

I don't know anything about the friendship between Kopecky and Hossa but I think not resigning with Kopecky really does not matter with the resigning possibility with Hossa if we have enough cap rooms. Earlier in the year, I didn't think there'd be a chance in hell that the Wings were going to trade Kopecky because he was such good friends with Hossa, but I'm beginning to think otherwise. The Wings brass has to be noticing that this team needs changes, and that they can't be making exceptions because so and so is friends with so and so. Babs was in love with Jason Williams, but he still got the boot.

Thats how Kopecky gets most of his points - not by doing anything special, but by not ruining it.
