"I forgot he was a Red Wing!"

My sister and I were actually talking about that. Jiri Slegr. I believe Slegr even played in the stanley cup winning game in 2001-2002, due to Fischer's suspension.

He got his name on the cup and then took off and hasn't been seen since.

Anyone know whatever happend to Jason Wooley? He's was like the pre-Brad Stuart.

Actually Holland has a history of trade deadline D line depth moves. Cory Cross comes to mind (ugh). I liked Wooley his first season in Detroit.

Does anyone know of any places that will sell old Red Wings jerseys? I would seriously love to get a Clark jersey. I know there are a lot of knock off places where you can put your own lettering on a jersey but it would be cool to get the real deal.

FanaticU.com and sportsk.com both allow for personalization of Wings Jerseys. Both also have the older (none reebok s***) to get lettered. Oh and both use lettering direct from the suppliers of the Red Wings.

Todd Gill FTW.

Stuart's better than that caliber of defenceman.

How can you forget Dandy? He was around for a while and I thought he was a decent player.

Me too. I always liked him. He hustled his butt off and played both ways when they needed it.

It's pretty hard to forget any of the Russian Five.

There are quiet, calm days when I can still envision them doing their thing on the ice. Nobody did their thing like they did their thing.

In fact, that's how I got hooked up with the Wings again...when they started playing.

I agree, I can't believe I'm hearing names like Martin LaPointe, Aaron Ward, Slava Kozlov etc. being tossed around - I don't see how you could forget them!

Here again, I can't believe I didn't think of LaPointe. Useta think he was the hottest thing on skates.

Dougie Brown. Hard worker, scored a few clutch goals in the playoffs when we needed it. I forgot all about him until I watched some of the full games on the Red Wings DVD set.

...Which reminds me of Gilchrist. Can't think of his first name. But in the 2002 (?) Cup series, I guess the other players would plug their ears when he got shots in his groin so he could play. What a warrior.

From what I remember, he's fought guys like Bob Nystrom, Clark Gillies, Larry Playfair and others. Those are 3 of the 10 best fighters ever in the NHL in my opinion.

So yeah, Barry was definitely a tough guy just for having the nerve to fight those guys.

I've also heard that he is cousins with Wendel Clark and Joey Kocur, although I don't know how much truth there is to that. All 3 played for the Wings of course.

"Playfair"?? You gotta be kiddin' us....

Thank you

Greg Johnson played for Detroit in the early 90s. Had to retire in 2006 right after he signed with us because of a bad EKG exam.

So, no?

LOL! I've seen this guy play a few times, cuz our city has a CHL team that the Brahma's visit. We thought his name was a joke, like "Ocho Cinco" or something. He might be one of the slowest skaters in that league, which is saying something, as watching the CHL is like watching hockey on downers.

As for the topic at hand, when I see Schneider...everytime I see Quincey play I think of Meech and get a little nauseous...lately, I've been forgetting about Lilja...he'd be nice to have on the PK right about now.
