Yuri Butsayev, Mathieu Dandenault, Maxim Kuznetsov...some great players lol

I wonder why we don't see many Russian prospects anymore. Did the whole, "Draft skill, worry about size later" mentality happen relatively recently?

Gotta give props to these guys:

Duchesne, Olausson, Slegr.

For soem reason, I always liked these guys and always forget about them. Not that they were great players necessarily, but for some reason, I got a little attached to them.

EDIT: Holy cow! Jason Wooley, there's someone I've forgotten totally about.

Just looked it up

Detroit traded Knuble to the New York Rangers for a 2000 2nd round draft choice (Tomas Kopecky).

Oh God... Hah. You just reinforced many people's criticisms of Kopy. In fact, they might say that's an insult to Knuble.

I certainly remember him scoring a goal against Buffalo, what a game.

Bill Ranford?

How could you forget that disastrous series in 1999? The Wings had Colorado circling the drain, even their media thought it was over and wrote hilarious articles like this, Yzerman was ripping it up, and then it all went horribly wrong.

I forgot about Ray Whitney, and that wasn't even that long ago. Wow.

And someone mentioned Pat Verbeek. I have a very vivid memory of him that really put him into my Hall of Favorites. It must have been around 2000, 2001 and it was a faceoff at center ice. Tiny little Verbeek just hauls off and downs a guy twice his size before the play even starts. Anyone remember that?
