russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 So the announcers just said THE best two players in the NHL are Malkin and Ovechkin, "no offense to Sidney Crosby." My God, do they even watch hockey? Yes, Malkin is good, but definitely one-dimnesional. Ovechkin is one of the best, if not the best in the NHL and should be the face of the NHL. But what about Datsyuk? Zetterberg? Hossa? Iginla? Luongo? Malkin wouldn't even crack my top five, regardless of his scoring position. I agree with you 100% here. To be a top player you need to be multi dimensional and I feel Malkin is all offense, and even looks lost defensively. Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Hossa may not log the points of Malkin or Crysby, but I would take any one of them over those guys any day of the week for their solid two way play. When your top scorers are your penalty killers it means they are the best in the league.
Guest mindfly Report post Posted February 8, 2009 Am I the only one who like McGuire? No offence to Redmond, he's this nice homer type guy but McGuire has a great passion for hockey, you can just tell.
Guest DetroitBoy313 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 They just got done talking about hockey greatest rivalries and they didn't mention the Red Wings & Avalanche! Wow!!
redwinger21 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 Because NHL is a garbage. Bettman and Cindy are the ugly faces of the NHL. That's why the NHL is becoming the trash. You know...I really wish the wings had called up Aaron Downey for this game. Don't get me wrong, I love Leino and Kopecky, but something tells me if Downey had been in this game...Crosby would be always keeping his head up...

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 Thay just admitted that Detroit won the Cup Nicely done. Missed that, did they also tell some story about how we only won because those evil Red Wings cheap-shotted Crosby until he was playing on only one leg with three toes and even then only because we drugged the rest of their team? russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 Am I the only one who like McGuire? No offence to Redmond, he's this nice homer type guy but McGuire has a great passion for hockey, you can just tell. Passion does not go hand in hand with knowledge. I like both. And while Mickey is slightly Homerific, he is one of the most objective color commentators for any local broadcast I have ever watched. He gets upset when the wings get PP's over the "hooking" calls and says there is no place for that in hockey. I think he knows his stuff is very passionate, and is objective enough while maintaining the homer flavor we want to see.
This Is Bida 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 OHHHH, and I forgot, the whole reason I came upstairs to post this comment... I wish I could stab every single Pens fan in the eyeball with a pencil for booing Hossa everything he touches the ice. Is every Pens fan SERIOUSLY that pathetic? This guy didn't CHOOSE to play in Pittsburgh, he didn't WANT to play for the Pens. He came to where he WANTED to play, here in Detroit. Stop booing him you ******-bags. my GOD!!! Holmstrom96 347 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 it'll be funny if Crysby tries that little cross check thing he did to Sammy to someone crazy, like, Cleary who'll then hit Crysby with a right cross and make cindy cry even more +

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 I like Pierre, love his passion. But Mick is the best, he's so neutral when you listen to him. He calls a spade a spade on either team.

Erack82 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 Am I the only one who like McGuire? No offence to Redmond, he's this nice homer type guy but McGuire has a great passion for hockey, you can just tell. McGuire can keep his "passion" off the air. I don't understand how the NHL expects to gain a new fan base in the US when he keeps yapping about his bias Canadian views, consistently makes immature comments towards Milbury and asks the most idiotic questions. It's guys like him that make me appreciate Eddie and Doc.
seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 You can tell Milbury really hates Pierre. I'm pretty sure it's an act. Broadcasters know that people like it when there's confrontation.

russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 Agreed about Mick. I don't know where he gained this reputation as a homer. He obviously loves the Wings and that is apparent in his commentary, but it does not place a bias on his commentary. I think he is one of the best in the entire league from the games I have watched by other teams.
