Is it just me, or has Hossa scored a lot of soft goals this season? I'm not knocking him - I'm actually complimenting him. I think its because Hossa's release is so quick, that the goaltenders don't get set quickly enough. They don't expect the shot to come so quick, and it makes them look like idiots.

To add to the Keep hossa OR franzen debate....I see hossa has one major thing that franzen doesn't....when we're in a pinch, or we have a sense of urgency to score....hossa seems to flip a switch in his head and pull some crazy moves and shots outta his ass...the guy never ceases to amaze me....and being a red wings fan...i'm not easily impressed..i'm spoiled lol.

Wings hemmed in their own zone? Guess the line!

I agree. He's had a lot of goals where he's just let it rip from far away or along the goal line and it's fooled the goalie.

yah he has an incredibly quick release, he shoots it while moving his feet quite often as well which throws the goalies off cause so many guys stop moving their feet before shooting and it is an obvious giveaway to the goalie that they will shoot.

QUOTE (YoungGuns1340 @ February 15, 2009 - 04:20PM)

Conks isn't really charting faceoffs. Hes refreshing the LGW.com GDT and letting the Wings know who needs to pick it up.

Its funny you said that because when i went to a game, i sat 6th row right next to the bench....i was literally about 6 feet away from conks all game long and he WASN'T charting faceoffs or shots. First i saw him writing a letter or note...then, he was drawing stick figures or ozzy in net lol. I have a picture somewhere, i'll see if i can find it. It was the jan 8th game where we beat dal 6-1

I dont think theres really a Franzen or Hossa debate, now that Hossa signing for 6M has actually become feasible. I've been vocal about taking Franzen over Hossa, because of depth/salary concerns, but that was in anticipation of Hank and Hossa each making around 7M. But if you consider that Hossa and Hank could potentially cut us 1M a piece, thats 2M saved, and if the difference between Hossa and Franzen is a mere 2M - 4M for Franzen vs. 6M for Hossa - then the choice is obvious.

The Wings suddenly look completely different! They are flying up and down the ice and attacking the net! I approve

Colorado's defense is ridiculously protective when they have the lead - and theyre good at it too. Once their lead is erased, they're more focused on moving the puck up the ice - and they aren't good at that. Advantage Wings.
