soultrain 43 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 So this 16 year old "fan of hockey" thinks she is the authortity on everything...she is really full of s***. i found this comment when i woke up this morning and thought it was amazing! "Fu*k you and your Red Wings!!! Shut up. It wasn't even the Red Wings playing that won them the game, it was the stupid refs and Toronto that did it! They did not play any better than the Sharks did. Did you watch the same game that I did? The Red Wings must be paying people off, they sure get special treatment. That's probably why they won the cup. Bunch of fu*king cheaters. We'll see you in the Western Conference Finals. You sure are a sore winner though. Calling those guys winners is a stretch."-Shark Asylum (Team Team)-myspace
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted February 26, 2009 (edited) It happens. When calls don't go your way, you ***** about the refs being in on some conspiracy against your team. I see it here too. Edited February 26, 2009 by Shoreline

That's because there is a conspiracy against the Red Wings, and last night's no goal call was just to throw us off. Duh.

Exactly. I can certainly see thinking it "should" count as a goal, it felt like we were scored on. But the rule was followed. Don't like it, get it changed, don't expect it to be called the way you want the rule to read. Anyway, she's a kid, just more commenting on the situation. Sharks fans are among the most fanatical. Having lived in San Jose where sports is usually a casual thing, the Sharks are the clear exception.
Taylorov 37 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 I was really surprised they kept calling penalties against the Sharks last night while we were up. I was totally waiting for the lets-even-things-up-with-a 5 on 3.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted February 26, 2009 (edited) I was really surprised they kept calling penalties against the Sharks last night while we were up. I was totally waiting for the lets-even-things-up-with-a 5 on 3. 3rd period.. Was a good spread of Sharks PP time. Then the stupid frustration penalties. Most of the calls on the Wings though later on were, as said during the Sharks broadcast of the ref calls against the Sharks earlier on, ticky tack. Inultus 12 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 Please, I'm not even being a homer here but to say that the Wings get calls which enable them to win games is simply not true. I will admit last night I was very surprised that they didn't count that goal and that they the Sharks had so many penalties called. OTOH, we got severely screwed in the playoffs on penalties (Holmstrom's ass interference call comes to mind). Doesn't really matter, we still won, but what if a clear no-call that was called had changed the momentum of the series. Hell yeah we'd have a right to *****. And I can understand why a Sharks fan would complain about last night, but she is definitely dreaming when she says the Wings did not play better.

And I can understand why a Sharks fan would complain about last night, but she is definitely dreaming when she says the Wings did not play better. Exactly, the wings brought their A game last night and I honestly think that Cleary's "dirty" (and lets not kid ourselves, it was a pretty bad hit) hit set a good tone for the game for us because the sharks throughout the game seemed to be retaliating for that one hit which helped us alot. After last night's game, I feel confident in saying that if the wings play even close to as good as they did last night....they will in fact go very deep in the playoffs. Now back to cleary's hit. In his defense, he seemed to just be finishing his check and just before he hit joe, joe turned and looked back so I'm inclined to believe that cleary thought thornton was going to turn toward him. I doubt cleary purposely laid that kind of hit on him. In fact, if you watch closely you'll see him try to pull off at the last second, and he even twisted his body and hit him with his back in an attempt to soften the blow when he realized joe wasn't going to turn around. As for Conklin, I say if the guy keeps up the rest of the season like that, we have to start him in the playoffs. That is unless ozzie comes back in tomorrow and shows everyone he is refocused and back to form of last season.
T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 From the sounds of her comments, she must be the daughter of the Sharks' color commentator (that bald whatsisname dude) that I had to endure on yayhoo sports last night. He is a whiney biased f***, and that must be where she gets it from. I really feal like Mickey is as objective as can be when it comes to calls and suspect goals etc. How many times have you heard Mickey say things like " Campbell; 2 minutes for playing hockey" acknowledging the bad call agaisnt Chicago or something. XxGoWingsxX 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 T.Low, that is why I love wings broadcasts. Mickey tries to be as unbiased as possible. If detroit gets away with something, he'll admit it. If the refs make a bad call on the opposing team, he'll stick up for that team. He calls the game, not the team.
Zion 93 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 Correct. And Drew Remenda (the bald guy) is usually the same way. He has his homer Canadian moments, however, so I can picture him going berserk on the Thornton "attempt to injure" hit last night.

Based on the views given- I have to agree with Toronto- there was never ice visible between the back of the puck and the line.

Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 I can understand why a new fan of the NHL would think the Wings get special treatment, but we all know that our cycling and great passing and quick offensive movement is what leads to other teams drawing penalties against us. I think our speed alone is what helps us with getting calls, the Wings have benefitted more from the interference calls (hooking, and holding stuff) because of guys like Dats, Hossa, Z and so on and so on!! Just my 2 cents!! But yes, that girls rant is funny stuff!!
