Full story (and it's short) on TSN here

Dandenault is in the final year of a three year contract that pays him $1.75 million per season

I hope he gets traded somewhere nice. He was always a good guy here, gave full effort and never complained whether he was on left wing one night or on defense the next night.

Ahh, the good old days

I would see this move to pick up Dandenault as a more likely scenario than a goalie pick up

A guy who knows his way around the locker room plus has the speed and puck skills to play in the Wings system

Plus I bet Ken could pick him up for nobody leaving from the active roster

Honestly at this time a goalie pick up could be baaad for the dressing room

I think there's still a lotta love for Ozzie in the room esp from the older guys

team chemistry will not be largely tinkered with

Only Kopecky is vulnerable IMO

Flip is safe based on recent play and last years playoffs

dandy would be excellent depth at defense...........

He can also play forward, don't forget.

Ahh, the good old days

I will second that. I think acquiring him would definetly be a positive move in the right direction.

I know not but a few are very high on Kopecky, but I really doubt he is going anywhere. He has lots of energy, and likes to play physical. I am not sold on him and I don't think he is even that great, but he is dirt cheap. And Babs and management like him. So were SOL!

So we already have an overloaded 4th line and our D is pretty set. Where does he play? And don't say Kopy, because Helm and or Leino already have that spot. You gonna drop Maltby or Draper for Dandeneault? Why do people post this kind of stuff without thinking.

There's been some talk that Holland is looking for a depth Defenceman. Dandenault might look good, because he's fast and experienced. His salary is quite big though, but Stuart's and Holmstrom's time in the LTIR should have opened enough cap space.

Dandenault was alright for us while he was here but I think we should let by-gones be by-gones. And for 1.7 mill.... no thanks.

What is wrong with all of those saying no?!?! Right now, it's looking like the Wings are eyeing Havelid pretty heavily as a DEPTH defenseman... lets see...

Dandenault - right handed, faster, 2 years younger, a full MILLION cheaper AND an expiring contract, i.e. RENTAL

Havelid - also a rental, but yet another left handed D, a little smaller than Dandy, no team experience, so you never know about the chemistry...

Dandenault>Havelid for sure... keep in mind, this is for depth, not to light up the playoffs... and as a matter of fact, the more I think about it, the more I love it, really the only weakness Lilja has is speed - put Dandy back there with him - problem solved.

Lidstrom-Rafalski

Kronwall-Stuart

Lilja-Dandenault

Meech/Lebda

Chelios

looks pretty good to me... I'm still thoroughly convinced that either Meech or Lebda will have a new home as of March 5th by the way...

Sorry man, I just don't think we even need a depth d-man. I think we are more then ready to roll with what we have. Plus a 1.7 mill depth d-man sounds kind of hefty, even as a rental. Finally, thinking that Dandenault will walk onto the team 4 years later and find the chemistry he left behind waiting for him is silly, there is no guarantee that he will find chemistry just because he played here 4 years earlier, this a completely different team and situation. I don't think its a necessary move.

you're missing my point... I don't see the point in adding a d-man either, but if they're going to, I'd rather it be Dandenault than Havelid... and 1.7 is better than 2.7 Havelid is at...

Its true... a 2.7 mill depth d-man really is hefty & unneccessary. I might be alone on this one but I am fine with Chelios playing. I don't think he plays nearly as bad as alot of people on here. Maybe give him a game off if he needs it but I'd be cool with him in the final roster spot.

eh... the only downside there, is that REALLY cripples your 3rd d pairing in speed - I personally just think we should deal Meech or Lebda (I'd rather see Lebda go, but I think we could get more for Meech) and have the 3rd pairing be Lilja-Meech/Lebda (whoever is left) then cycle in Cheli if anyone gets injured/matchups where speed isn't as big of a factor... also keep in mind there is a very good chance that if Ericsson can kick the injury bug that the 3rd pairing will most likely be Ericsson-Lilja through the whole playoffs...

Holland says that he will address 'defensove depth' at the deadline. Getting Dandenault back would address that as he can play both up front and on d. Obviously we all know that he has post season experience. I'd welcome him back for the Wings, but what would we have to give up? Probably not much, 3rd rounder should do it. But...realisically, the Wings need physicality.

Holland has stated any trade he makes will have to involve money going out since we are tight to cap. I can't see trading any roster player we have for Dandenault. He is a more expensive Brett Lebda/Derek Meech hybrid. I love Dandy don't get me wrong, I am probably one of the few Wings fans with a dandenault jersey but I can't see him on this team...
