esteef 2,679 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=269559&...s=topStory_main "The 28-year old Avery could get a frosty welcome from current Rangers' head coach John Tortorella who has stated in the past that he is no fan of Avery's antics." "Rangers' general manager Glen Sather sees Avery as a boost to a struggling Rangers squad and believes that his coach and new acquisition will be able to co-exist." esteef Edited March 3, 2009 by esteef

seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Today's a good day for Rangers fans. They pick up Avery and waive Voros. Hopefully this will help them big time.
The Secret 304 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Better he sign there than here. He has potential but I would not want to pay him to act like a dickhead and create problems on and off the ice. Risky move by the Rangers, especially after Dallas dropped him like they did.
C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Well, whatever happens, it'll probably be entertaining. Just when Marty Brodeur thought it was safe to come back.
The Secret 304 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Too bad the Flamers don't play the Rangers the rest of this year. I still want to see Dirty Dion defend his & gf names by steam rolling Avery. What goes around comes around.

SuperNovaXll 124 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 This is going to be interesting hehe. Anyone know the next time NJ and the Rangers play? Im sure I wont be the only one watching that. But even with that said, I have a feeling Avery will be on his best behavior.......for awhile anyway.
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Torts won't put up with any of Avery's crap, so either this works out for the Rangers or blows up in their face.

motorcitykid 42 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 No suprise. We knew the Rangers were going to do this. But as far as I'm concerned, without names like Wayne, Mark or Jari, Glen Sather simply sucks. Avery's a chump who's taken advantage of all that he's been given. Counselling? Yeh, thats what he needs! Pul-leeze. Scotty Bowman had dude pegged back in Avery's rookie days here, didn't he? Here's hoping this blows up in Sather's face. And IT WILL!
lets go pavel 2 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Anyone else waiting for a Dallas press release taunting the Rangers for going after their sloppy seconds?
whitneydatsyukrox 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Is it wrong that I'm jealous the Rangers have him and not us haha? He is so, so effective at what he does. Given the right environment, he's probably not going to cause much trouble. He was fantastic with the Rangers before and should help, again, give them a much-needed boost! He was very clutch in the playoffs last season, to top it all off. And such a bargain now! I just love the man, obviously. Can't wait to see Torts and Avery together! Should be interesting. whitneydatsyukrox 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Martin Brodeur quietly weeps... And guess what? Currently, NJ is in 2nd place in the East and NY is in 7th. Please God let Brodeur and Avery meet again in the playoffs!
Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Anyone else waiting for a Dallas press release taunting the Rangers for going after their sloppy seconds? Well technically Dallas got the Rangers' sloppy seconds when they signed him in the first place right? And he started his career with Detroit right? Doesn't that make him overall our sloppy seconds? It's so complicated.
