Chicago Self Destruction?

What the hell happened to the Blackhawks?

18 games ago people were talking about them catching us in the standings, and now they've lost their last 4 games and only have 3 wins in their last 10 games.

They are 9 points away from losing their playoff spot.

I don't think they'll drop out of the playoffs, but what happened? (Besides the Sharp injury.)

At this point, I don't care about any Blackhawk game except the back to back conclusion we face them in at the end of the season, and a possible meeting in the playoffs. I don't know what happened, I guess they never recovered from getting shut out then shortly after being beaten at Wrigley Feild. Wings dominate, that's what.

Youth and lack of veteran leadership other than Buli, Campbell and Havlat and that isn't saying much. They haven't been the same since the Wings schooled them in that home and home. Plus they have Sharp on IR.

They have just not been the same team since Kane had that high ankle sprain, and then the Wings kicked their asses in the WC. Maybe they are already coasting.

Enjoy those 2 playoff games, Chicago!

I don't remember the Division ever being contested this year - or anyone ever suggesting it was.

The Hawks are just excited to be going to the POs for the first time in ?8 years.....

I'm dreaming of a Red Wings vs. Quenneville matchup again.

I do. Going into that New Years home-and-home, they were 4 points behind with 2 games in hand. But the division's never been in doubt since those two wins.

Indeed. The Wings were doing pretty badly and were under threat of losing their division spot. Thankfully they got their s*** in gear as it was kinda worrying me at the time.

I know! maybe they're just slumping at the wrong time. It happens sometimes, just a growing pain for the team. San Jose, Boston, Calgary and Washington are all going through slumps of their own right now. We're just lucky the wings have been fairly consistent this year.

Kane is hot again after that nagging ankle injury.

They will be in the playoffs.

The team is still one of the scarier ones in the West. If they get hot at the right moment that is. Thank god they didn't manage to move Havlet for Staal like they were rumored to be doing.

The Hawks aren't self-destructing. As lots of other people said, the Kane injury hurt, and the Hawks are still a young team, so you should expect some inconsistency. They've got two real good lines, a good back end, and goaltending that, while somewhat unpredictable, is basically going to keep them in it every night.

I'd love to see the Wings play them--in the second round.
