Herr Hockey 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 that is my choice too. Our defense looks big and steady. At lrast on the paper. I agree with most of it too, except the d-parings. Babcock won't use those pairings because the left-hand/right-hand pair of Lidstrom and Rafalski is crucial to how our offense is run. It means a hell of a lot more on the powerplay, but really at any given time its nice to have that option of switching sides and blasting one timers.

bonan78 1 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 Zetterberg/Datsyuk/Holmstrom Franzen/Filppula/Hossa Hudler/Helm/Cleary Samuelsson/Draper/Leino -Downey, Kopecky, Maltby reserve in that order Lidstrom/Rafalski Kronwall/Stuart Lebda/Lilja (depending on his health) or Ericsson -Chelios, Meech reserve Osgood, Conklin (the job is Ozzie's to lose, just like Dom last year) It was a tough call between Sammy and Cleary on the 3rd, I went with Cleary because they don't need two shooters on that line, Hudler will take the majority of the shots, Cleary will crash the net, and Helm will be able to make plays and set up his wingers. Samuelsson makes the 4th line more dangerous offensively, and Leino can play on either line, too, but I don't think Babcock will put him on the 3rd in favor of any of the veterans ahead of him. GROwl 5 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 (edited) Zetterberg/Datsyuk/Holmstrom Franzen/Filppula/Hossa Hudler/Helm/Cleary Samuelsson/Draper/Leino -Downey, Kopecky, Maltby reserve in that order Lidstrom/Rafalski Kronwall/Stuart Lebda/Lilja (depending on his health) or Ericsson -Chelios, Meech reserve Osgood, Conklin (the job is Ozzie's to lose, just like Dom last year) That's quite a list of reserve players. And three Griffins in the playing lines. Kind of implies that the Wings didn't make the best decision when re-signing Kopecky, Maltby, Chelios and Meech - and then also in sending Leino, Helm and Ericsson to Grand Rapids last October. If they are good enough to be in the lineup for play-offs, I'd argue that they should have been in Detroit all season long. Its even a multi-year bad decision for Meech & Maltby since they will be taking up roster spots for another year. Edited March 26, 2009 by GROwl
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Franzen-Filppula-Hossa Cleary-Draper-Samuelsson Hudler-Helm-Leino Kopecky/Maltby/Downey/McCarty/Abdlekader, etc. Lidstrom-Rafalski Stuart-Krownall Lilja-Ericsson Lebda/Chelios If injuries on either forward or defense, I'd give Kopecky first nod, and virtually split 50-50 down the middle on Lebda and Chelios.
