That is exactly what I mean! Hasek in 08 is in the exact situaion as Osgood is now, EXCEPT OSGOOD HAS PLAYED FAR WORSE ALL YEAR LONG. YET SOMEHOW YOU DON'T SEE THE EXACT SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO HASEK HAPPENING TO OSGOOD? THAT is what I am talking about when I bring up stats. If this was the Red Wing's first year of existence I would be saying this right now. I wouldn't have brought up stats AT ALL. I am NOT saying that because Osgood is #40 in GAA he won't perform in the playoffs, I'm saying because a legendary goalie ranked #3 in GAA didn't perform in the playoffs, how do you expect an above average at best goalie who's play this year got him ranked #40 in GAA to perform in the playoffs? This year is the same as last year and I'm pulling it all together into one conclusion, I'm not isolating this year.

And if you think a goalie, one that has played horrible from the start of the seaon, who is only playing a little less horrible at the end, can suddenly become a great goalie in the playoffs, especially given what we saw first hand last year, you're delusional. You don't play s***ty in the regular season and win the cup in the playoffs. A goalies job is the same in the playoffs as it is in the regular season. It's everything else that changes.

If Osgood starts in the playoffs, he is guaranteed not to be playing in the third round (and that is either because a. he got pulled in favor of conklin or b. we didn't make it that far, most likely due to his goaltending). Quote me on that when the time comes.

That's what Roloson and Ward were in 06, above average at best, they sure didn't disappoint. I'm not saying I am sure Osgood will make a long playoff run, but he is the best choice. You can't base your reasoning off of one year or any number of years. Every player is different, every year is different. Osgood will start in the playoffs and will finish the playoffs unless he seriously falters, but I have confidence in him because he is our goalie and that's the way it is.

i HAVE figured out WHY ozzie IS playing LIKE crap!

2 words = barry manilow

how could anyone get pumped up to play a game listening to that crap(sorry manilow fans) but he needs to listen to some slipknot or somthing along those lines.

He listens to WHAT! An .800 save percentage and a 4.0 GAA is fine, but thats the last straw.

This is why one should ignore stats, folks. This is how people manipulate them to try to rationalize the irrational. People talked about how great goalies did during the season, then folded in the playoffs. Same said of Cujo, same of Nabokov, same of many goalies. Suddenly Osgood is an exception to the rule because he's Osgood. Maybe you'll realize that the playoffs is a different season, maybe you won't, I don't care, I'm just not buying the obviously nonsensical BS you're spewing.

I'm not sure about what you meant really. What rule am I saying osgood is the exception to? But how is this: pretend I never brought stats up. Just going by how they've played overall from a coaches's viewpoint, overall Hasek played much better than Osgood overall this year. Yet he still folded in the playoffs. Seeing that Osgood is playing worse overall this seaon than Hasek did last season, I think it's unrealistic to expect that what happened to Hasek last season will not happen to Osgood.

Also, just because a goalie didn't win the cup means the "folded". Ellis didn't "fold" last year in the playoffs, but his team still got eliminated in the first round.

Well, this is why we have a coach who makes crucial choices about goalies. Babs was confident in Hasek, Hasek's play was unimpressive in the playoffs, he was pulled for Ozzie, Ozzie impressed and later came the cup. I've actually said this season maybe Conklin will be last year's Ozzie, numerous times, but first it looks like Babs wants to see how Ozzie does, and I support any player who is playing in a Wings uniform, and I support the coach, all of whom have accomplished the ultimate goal for us fans. In all honesty to me it really doesn't matter what Babs does, right now. I'm going to support his decision since he's the coach, has the cup championship, and knows what he's doing. The only monday morning quarterbacking I'm going to be doing is if his decisions cause this team to get eliminated, which I wouldn't know unless it happens (*crosses fingers it doesn't*). Right now people are so friggen panicked or so preoccupied with trashing certain players (not you, but I'm sure you know who/what I mean), or overanalyzing statistics to try and justify it, I wonder if they even enjoy watching the bloody games. Lost in all of this is the Wings are going to essentially match last season's point production, and have yet another shot at winning a cup.

I won't blame you if you ignore the OT rant'ish nonsensical crap, but I kinda feel it all ultimately comes together.

Ozzie has never done anything for this team. He's just a #2 goalie who's never helped any team win a cup. He's the worst goalie ever and he sucks. This team needs a Stanley Cup hero like Curtis Joseph who knows how to win cups. Or maybe Roberto Luongo. That guy has a ton of 'em too.

Why not take him seriously? Ozzie has played bad for like, eleventy billion years. This season the defense has played perfectly in front of him and Conklin, which explains the #1 PK in the league, and I dare you to find any highlight reel goals of opposing offenses undressing this impenetrable fortress of a defense. You can't can you? Can you?! I didn't think so. This is all Osbad's fault. I bet all those fans not showing up at the JLA are just protesting Osgood. He should just hang up his skates since he can't ever win a cup.

 i quit reading after these two posts.
