Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 Regardless of today's outcome, I still think that Washington is winning this series. Lundqvist is an amazing goalie but I just don't think that he can play at this level all series long. Doubtful. Washington might have to go back to Theodore or stay with a rookie goalie at MSG, it doesnt look good.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 18, 2009 This hasn't exactly been a playoff-caliber offense thusfar by the Caps. They need to score.
whitneydatsyukrox 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 Lundqvist is simply amazing. The Rangers are so fortunate to have him.

I know it doesn't look good going down 2 - 0 and then having to go to NY, but Washington will definitely get their chances and I don't think there is any way that Theodore will play as bad as he did in game one. Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 18, 2009 And a retarded penalty by Semin. If the Rags go up by 2 the Caps are in the hole and I don't think they're coming out.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 18, 2009 (edited) Green has some great offensive speed/skill and a hell of a backcheck following that play just before the break to allow the Caps to move it up the ice and get another few scoring chances. There certainly good enough to do it, but I just think it'll be too big a task for them.

Well, we're probably getting a little ahead of ourselves considering game 2 isn't over yet. Ovechkin off the bar!
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 18, 2009 Wow, Fedorov just gave the puck away right in front of Varlamov and that just about ended up 2-0 Rags. So lucky they didn't score on that.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 18, 2009 Time's running out for the Caps to score.

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 Well, can say I wasn't expecting a 1-0 game, or 2-0 Rangers.
Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 Exciting finish! I'm surprised as hell the Rags are up 2-0 here. But I agree with NRS that the Caps are still winning this series.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 18, 2009 The Caps ain't gonna win s*** if they can't get this amazing offense to put pucks in the net. Their defense is great, just not their offense.

whitneydatsyukrox 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 Amazing. I love Lundqvist. Truly the "Luongo of the East." The goaltending was the least of the Caps' problem. They still have every opportunity in the world to win this series, but this isn't looking good for them.

Just like Luongo, whenever the other team shoots I have serious doubts about it going in, and the past 4 games for both of them they've only allowed 2 goals, incredible, espicially at this time of year. BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 The Rangers are a much better team since the coaching change. That's not a slam on Renney, it just comes down to the fact that change is sometimes needed to shake a team up and get them going again. Goalies don't impact games nearly as much as they're usually given credit for, but Henrik Lundqvist is one of the few who really makes a difference back there. The coaching change has been amazing for the Rangers. And to add to Tortorella's pure awesomeness, someone on HFBoards posted part of the post-game interview with him: Reporter- "What did you think of Varlamov today?" Tortorella- "who?" R- "the Washington goaltender..." T: "oh yeah no I'm not going to talk about their players, I'm only going to talk about my players"
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 It seems like the pressure of playing at home as the 2 seed is getting to the young Capitals. They don't seem to be playing with the confidence and swagger that they've shown in the regular season. Looks like they used up all their celebrations for the regular season, also. I never really felt like they were going to tie the game, even though they were only down by one goal. They can still win this series, but they're in serious trouble and I don't see them getting out of it. This would be a huge blow to their franchise if they can't get out of the first round with this much talent on their team.
