From the glass half full department (Courtesy of Randy and Drew) - 2002 and 2006 Stanley Cup winners (Detroit and Carolina respectively) went down 0-2 in their quarterfinals series.

From the glass half empty department, this is the Sharks were talking about here.

From the glass half full department, maybe my glass is half full of vodka?

:lol::lol:

Well at least they're funny.

Joe Thornton in the post game interview..

"We're playing well, we're on our game, and we controlled play".. paraphrasing.

"We're just going to be continuing the way we're playing, and we're gonna go there and win games"

Except they are not going to.

Obviously continuing the way they are playing isn't going to help them get a W seeing as how they lost twice now playing that way. Ahh poor Joey.

Wow. Total FAIL. Where are all those bigmouthed Sharks fans that said this season was different and they were so much better than the Wings and bla bla bla. Different year, different coach, same story.

HAHA I'm on HFBOARDS and a Shark fan said:

"I want the Sharks to be pallbearers at my funeral so they can let me down one last time."

and then the next post was "You should have Thornton read a poem, but he probably won't show up."

Eh, it's not so much the Sharks being their usual choker selves. It's the Ducks.. they were underrated going into this series. They made some solid trades around the deadline, sending out underperformers and getting some fresh young talent (Nokelainen and Whitney both stick out as good grabs, Whitney was a steal imo). They have arguably the best veteran d-man pairing not in a Wings uniform. They have an explosive first line, and while their scoring depth up front is a little lacking, their defensive and physical depth throughout their top 12 forwards is very strong. If I'm not mistaken, they're 2nd only to the Wings in cup rings/proven playoff performers. Oh, and they have a hot young goaltender, while Nabby has been below average by his standards.

The Ducks may not make it to the conference finals, but if they don't, they're gonna give everyone up until then hell. I facepalm at all the people who wanted to face these guys in the fist (lol @ Freudian slip, best left unedited) round.

Actually bummed out by the Sharks choking like this, was really looking forward to a potential semi-final between us and them. That and I can't stand the ducks, pretty much like to see any team beat them, though at least I get to see Claude Lemieux lose again and that's always refreshing.

What better team to beat them then the Wings? ; ) *If of course it does pan out that way*

I still predict a 7 game series. That's what I'm hoping for anyhow.

SJ, I think, will outplay the Ducks in Anaheim. Sharks just need to steal one home game. Lol.

Well, look at the bright side.. here's what our potential matchups are shaping up to be:

Chicago, who have Quennville (our playoff good luck charm) as a coach and an inexperienced core.

Vancouver, who have 0 cups throughout all the players on their team (and very little finals/conference finals experience within their core).

Anaheim, probably the nastiest of the lot, but lacking in their scoring depth as compared to previous years.

With any luck, if we make it to next round, we face Chicago or Vancouver (preferably Chicago), the other team knocks out Anaheim after a long struggle (possibly taking some injuries), we face a tired team in the conference finals, either one of which shapes up as a good matchup for us. We then (hopefully) roll over whoever comes out of the East.

Exactly, after all, if Wings advance to the 2nd round, we could face Luongo and the Canucks. I'll take Hiller and the Ducks. SJ haven't been creative at all. In fact, they've been predictable.

Dats, Zetterberg and Hossa (plus our depth players) is light-years more talented than SJ's top players.

I was just doing some reading over there on the sharks boards as well. I think they are gonna hang themselves. Here is a couple of posters:

"If we lose this series I wouldn't mind seeing a new GM on top of some trades for some of our extra special chokers."

"... which it might be time to rebuild."

"I'd burn my Thornton jersey if it hadn't set me back $350."

"The sad thing is, I honestly believe the isles will win the cup before the sharks do."

"Don't forget "NO SHOW" Joe. He disappears in the playoffs."

Ill take Lu and the Nucks over Pronger and the f***s. (God, I love how that rhymes)

We have the Nucks outskilled both up front and in the back, and Osgood is a more proven playoff goaltender than Lu (mind you, Lu's performance so far has been great).

Anaheim = Injuries and a longer trip. Also, Nucks have 0 cups among their entire roster.. Anaheim is 2nd to the Wings in that regard, I think.

I'm sure the biggest disappointment for the Sharks here is the fact that Joe Thornton, their superstar, has been absent. Patrick Marleau in these cases usually also gets a lot of flak but in this case Thornton's lack of performance in the postseason is nothing short of an utter disappointment. He's going to have to really shed this funk he's in if he wants to be looked at as something more than a postseason no-show.

Wouldn't we face the ducks in the 2nd round? 2 vs. 8 and 3 vs. 4 so either we face them next or we don't face them at all.

Well, I agree neither team would be a walk in the park. My thought pattern is I think Wings can answer the rookie goalie easier than Lu.

With that said, Chi-town would be fun.
