Avery punches Varlamov in face

This joker doesn't deserve to play in the NHL. Every time the dude is in a game you see something about him being a dirty, lowlife cheap player. There's no room in the game for his ridiculous antics (although, i do admit the waving stick in brodeur's face, while totally wrong had me laughing my ass off). I think the league should just issue a permanent ban on the guy as he's shown time and time again that he just isn't going to change.

Really, the punch itself isn't a big deal, I don't think. Worse happens during the playoffs, and I have come to expect that in a high intensity game, there will be raw emotions and some of those might display themselves through little bouts of roughness. However, I look at this incident against the backdrop of the game itself...the Rangers were down 3-0 with 2 minutes left...I sincerely doubt that Avery thought his actions would somehow help the Rangers tie up the game. Had the score been 3-3, or even 3-2 at the time, I would have written this off as simple agitating, but because Avery was probably just letting out a little aggression, I have to say that I don't approve of his behavior at all.

so with the get off his jock comment i think you need to step out from behind bettmans ass. if it were you and you got a crosscheck and then goalie giving a stick check you would just skate off thats bull s***...there would be a scrum and you know it. all avrey did was skate by and give him a nub to the mask..nothing more. he got a pen for christ sake....asking for a game suspention is stupid.

If I were Avery I would watch my back after the crap I did....If I were Avery I would be Expecting to have a stick in my chest once in a while...... I never said he needed a game suspension I already said that he should not have ...... But that doesnt mean that he should not get a meeting with the NHL brass or the Ranger Brass

in his grill telling him to play hockey between the whistles......not after the whistles.

Avery isnt the only cheap shot artist this year, in these playoffs. what he did was stupid, meaning less and had no bearing on the game...it was out of reach, his team was getting owned. It wasnt 3-2 or 3-3. It was 3-0 and wasnt looking to get any better. taking a penalty gets his team pumped up? thats a spark? well that's not exactly what I would call a uplifting team mate. Thank God he's a Ranger.

Do you think for One minute that the Wings (or Babcock) would put up with that crap from him if he were still here????

Whatever. Everyone wants to complain about Avery's antics, but how many dozens of punches to the head are thrown every night in the NHL? If anything, a goalie is more protected than anyone.

So It's ok to.......Aww hell withit nevermind

Yep, I'd say that if you're not going to call every single punch that takes place througout the course of a game, giving a goalie (with a cage) a love tap isn't a big deal. It's so funny that once someone does something to a goaltender it becomes a cardinal sin.

Was it suspension worthy, hell no.

Is it worthy of a benching, maybe.

Torts didn't look all too happy with one Mr. Avery. Tortorella said there was no room on his team for Sean Avery before the Rags re-signed him, the team forces Avery upon him. Avery is quiet for about a week, then he starts. The look on Tortorella's face says it all.

Avery's actions may not be suspend able but he is running out of teams that will want him.

The thing with Avery is that he has no self control. He cannot stop doing dumb things.

If you want to fight to amp up your teams energy fine, but what in the hell good is done by what Avery did?

Did his team get fired up and start to play better hockey, no they mostly hung their heads in disgust!

BTW I hate Sean Avery and would never under any circumstances want him back in the winged wheel, however that was not a suspension worthy punch! I am not even sure it was worth the misconduct penalty but I suppose because it was after the play, and with the Thomas thing that just happened, his reputation, blah blah... the refs saw reason to give him the misconduct.
