R.Rabbit 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 Thursday, April 23, 2009 3:07 AM By Tom Reed THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH Blue Jackets forward R.J. Umberger has found relief from his recent neck pain. He wouldn't recommend the treatment, though. Umberger was leveled by a vicious but clean hip check from Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brad Stuart on Tuesday. But he missed just two second-period shifts and scored the Jackets' only goal in a 4-1 loss in Nationwide Arena. "I had a kink in my neck," a smiling Umberger said. "I should send him a thank-you note. It was better than what a chiropractor can do." Stuart was happy to assist. "Anytime, anytime. Glad to help," he said. "I don't charge anything. It's pro bono." Good to see we ALL enjoyed the hit some form or fashion.

egroen 384 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 Umberger is the real deal - but man, he is going to have a short career if he keeps that up. The man has a lot of highlight reels of him being utterly destroyed.
puertoricanWingsfan 5 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 yeah, I said in another post that Umberger needs to learn how to skate with his head up... let's see who else stuart would like to help!

egroen 384 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 Stuart helped kill off the last remaining self-preserving brain cells in Umberger's head telling him to get the f@ck out of the way!

Blueliner 69 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 Hopefully Stuart can help Commodore out in a similar fashion tonight. The boards in front of the Red Wings bench already took care of that.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 Hopefully Stuart can help Commodore out in a similar fashion tonight. You have to think Babs chuckled a little seeing Commodore fly into the Wings' bench after missing his check given their history.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 23, 2009 (edited) Stuart helped kill off the last remaining self-preserving brain cells in Umberger's head telling him to get the f@ck out of the way! I've actually thought the same thing of Kopecky. I wonder if some big hits on him jarred the "defensive" part of his brain. HanKarin40 7 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 You had to think Babs chuckled a little seeing Commodore fly into the Wings' bench after missing check given their history. I thought the same thing. You can't write stuff like that. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy
hockaholic 1 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 Hopefully Stuart can help Commodore out in a similar fashion tonight. How funny was it in game 3 when Commodore was behind the net wrestling with Franzen, knocking Franzen down, and then pushing him back down... meanwhile the crowd is going wild in reaction to this and all of a sudden Zetterberg scores to make the game 3-0. That shut them up in a hurry. After the goal, when the Wings were celebrating on the ice, you could see Franzen talking smack to Commodore. I had to rewatch that scene a few times and I was rolling! Commodore is great about putting himself out of position (and into the Wings bench). Nice move Cleary!

Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 Thank god there are still people in the league who don't take every hit to be a cheap shot, and admit when their clock's been rung cleanly. RJ Umberger is now one of my favorite BJ's Blue Jackets.
Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 great hit...enjoyed it thoroughly. what is it with umberger though? every time he plays in the playoffs, someone drills him, and with clean hits. i almost feel bad for him. stuart delivered the hip cause he's the only guy on the bj's that can score apparently. softshoes 83 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 The best part of the Commodore crap was the announcers on the C-bus feed. First announcers is getting fired up over Commie hitting Franzen a second time(taking a penalty btw). Second announcers is, um Zetterberg scored. Then pan the camera over to Commodore gazing at the rafters like ah wtf.
