akustyk 84 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 (edited) so, americans can watch this WHERE? same place where Europeans can watch NHL... except you'll have it around noon not midnight as we do, and I'm sure US employers will be more okay with ppl watching Sopcast than European bosses are with sleepwalking employees honestly, it's all doable and much easier to stomach for you in US than it's the other way around because here, when it comes to April, I always have to change my day routines to adjust to night watching. and you sure bet I love it when Wings sweep a series instead than play 7 games. it's much better for my health Edited April 24, 2009 by akustyk
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted April 27, 2009 Man, Slovakia's having yet another rough time. Bet they wish they could have Hossa. I also say, watch out for Latvia against Sweden later on today. Wouldn't surprise me a bit to see Sweden get upset.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted April 27, 2009 (edited) I also say, watch out for Latvia against Sweden later on today. Wouldn't surprise me a bit to see Sweden get upset. Good call. Latvia played a great game and won after shoot-out. 1+6 for Linus Omark after the first 2 games, not against the greatest opposition but still he's been one of our best players so far. dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted April 29, 2009 Pretty good game between Sweden and USA. Sweden down 2-5, turned it around to 5-5 in the 3rd and won in OT. Jonas Gustafsson looked shaky at times, and should have had atleast one or two of the goals, but he did some great saves. I'd definitely rather have him in net than Stefan Liv. I wouldn't call it a pretty good game. Ya know why? Here's why. Cause if we'd have won, we'd be second in the group instead of third and then we wouldn't have to face Finland AGAIN. We always draw Finland in the elimination rounds. Not just the last two WC's, but the '06 Olympics too. And we always lose. Here's hoping we stop choking away leads, which we've done copious amounts of this tournament, beat Finland, set ourselves up for another beatdown at the hands of Russia and then a bronze-medal game against Sweden or the CR. That sounds like a best case scenario, anyway. Russia and Canada both look unstoppable, even if Canada didn't exactly win today.

They might as well already announce that USA & Finland will face each other in the 2010 Olympic quarterfinals. Should be a good one. I'm not so sure that we'll win this time, let's just say our team could be better (damn all those injuries to our NHL players)... betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted May 5, 2009 P.S. - I'm a tiny bit peeved that Germany gets to stay up thanks to hosting next year's tournament, and Austria has to go down despite beating them. Austria has the second coolest logo after Sweden. Karma says Germany gets relegated next year in front of the home fans. Should be a good one. I'm not so sure that we'll win this time, let's just say our team could be better (damn all those injuries to our NHL players)... You did just beat Canada, after all. I can't remember the last time USA made it out of the quarterfinals. Even a fourth-place finish would be better than anything we've done in recent years. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 5, 2009 Anyone else catch Tomas Surovy whack Halak over the head with his stick in frustration after allowing the 8th goal in their loss? Wilddddd
FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 Going like I expected. Our Euro hockey tour players can't match for USA's NHL ones. And Esche's playing like Mike Richter circa '96.

FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 We'll see. 3-2 now.....we're well on our way to Sweden remix. You'll win IF the players can handle the curse...
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 You'll win IF the players can handle the curse... That's two curses - the curse of having to play you guys in every quarterfinal ever, and the curse of blowing damn near every lead we've had in this tournament. If the games were just two periods we'd be a lock for this s***.
FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 Well, first off congrats for the W. Can we win again in Vancouver? Secondly, the Wings & now team Finland... I hate 40+ SOG losses. Finally, Esche for Wings' backup 2009-10â„¢.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted May 7, 2009 Canada-Sweden in the semifinal.. again. We didn't play great against the Czechs so I'm not too hopeful, but it should be a good game. Jonas Gustafsson played great today, he could be a difference maker.
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 Well, first off congrats for the W. Can we win again in Vancouver? No, you still have a lot of karma to burn off Anyway, I like it - best finish for USA since 2004 when we won bronze. I'll take another bronze. Actually I'd like something a little shinier, but Russia and Canada are unstoppable. That should be a fun gold-medal game. Already figuring on playing Sweden for the bronze. RusDRW 155 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 Russia and Canada are unstoppable that is not true. I see both teams loosing in semis.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 Pathetic effort by the swedes against canada. Atleast the two best teams made it to the final. Sweden generally sucks in bronze-medal games, so I'm guessing it will be another 4th place.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 Sweden didnt have enough talent to beat Canada this year. Marcus Nilson really impressed me with his intensity and physical play though, he was a decent player for the Flames back in the day. Cant wait for Sunday, your going down this time Russia!! Guest mindfly Report post Posted May 10, 2009 Kenny Jönsson could be a top notch defender in the NHL too bad the social things didn't work out in america, he won the +/- in the tournament at +14 or something.. Johnny Oduya is great too, he could be a 6th dman in the olympics if he continue to improve next season
