 Excellent news! I don't know if our e-mails did anything, but all I want to do is watch the Red Wings on either TSN or CBC without having to pay extra. With 4 series left and two networks (TSN and CBC) in Canada able to show game, I don't think it's unfair to ask for every game being on regular cable.

In the 1st round I can understand if not every game can be on cable, but 2nd, 3rd, and the Final, every game should be on.

From Chris Zelkovich's blog in todays Toronto Star:

"The countdown to J-Day (when the first Jays game is scheduled for TSN2) is now 21 days and counting. Adding to the drama is the fact that Friday's Anaheim-Detroit playoff game is on TSN2, meaning Rogers subscribers won't be able to watch it. At least there won't be a string of complaints about Friday's Anaheim-Detroit game being on TSN2 after TSN and CBC made a last-minute deal to move the game to the public network. While a deal will surely probably get done by then, this whole stalemate between Rogers and TSN has been a bit of a mystery. One thing is for sure: It's not about the asking price for TSN2. According to sources, TSN is asking Rogers to pay less than 30 cents a month per subscriber. TSN, by comparison, gets more than $1 a month. Even for a channel that shows a lot or reruns, 30 cents doesn't sound that outrageous..."

anyone know why Sportsnet did not do any games this year? that was a big blow... if they had games screw TSN2.

Sportsnet is a 2nd rate network and I can't remember the last time they carried NHL playoff hockey.... in Canada the rights are exclusively between CBC and TSN.

That really sucks for TSN, I am so glad CBC is taking it.

Actually it's a great deal for TSN, they traded a game they couldn't air anyway (they have to air Nascar on TSN2) for an elimination game of the Pittsburgh/Washington series, if it goes that far (game 6)... They still have the rest of the Anaheim/Detroit series....

Screw the Blue Jays. I'd rather watch the Florida Panthers play the New Jersey Devils than baseball, or perhaps watch paper decompose (Sorry American fans, I just can't stand that game).

The Rogers people are notoriously frugal with their money and downright nasty about promoting other stations. I think it goes back to TSN's application for TSN2 back in 2000 or something that was denied. TSN went with TSN-Alt and are using that license for TSN2, which is basically a timeshifting channel with a few minor exceptions (F1, NASCAR, etc).

Not sure when it comes up for renewal, but it is certainly a very useful station to have when there's more than one thing going on and I'd miss it if it left.

Anyway, the thing we need to learn from this is that the Toronto Blue Jays are lazy and they suck.
