wingsownnhl43 14 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 I normally dont complain about a bias towards a certain team from national broadcasts but my god, get off Anaheim's balls already. PJ Stock, Ron MacLean, and Kelly Hrudy saw nothing wrong with Brown's hit and all thought Franzen should have gotten a penalty after his goal. I usually favor CBC over VS, but i might have to switch for this series.
heed316 7 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 They also claimed Franzen interfered with Hiller on the 3rd goal...they questioned if it should be called or not since it was subtle, but they nevertheless kept bringing it up.

(I don't get TSN, but i would assume they're up there too.)
sixer 37 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Kelly Hrudey and Ron Mclean did the same poor and idiotic commentary during the last couple years when the wings were on CBC. They are very biased and it's annoying to have to watch them. If you view the TSN commentary they clearly discuss how there was intent to injure and it was a intentional hit. Then when interviewing Franzen trying to accuse him of playing dirty. CBC YOU SUCK!!! And I Hope your funding gets cut off!

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Wait. So a Canadian broadcasting company is being biased towards a team packed with Canadians, as opposed to a team that boasts..4 Canadians in the lineup and a pack of Euros? Whodathunkit.
SDavis35 140 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 No no no!! They're not biased, my roommate was telling me how "homer" they were for the wings! I'd Like to see an analysis from Cherry who's ALWAYS saying "keep your head up"

What's wrong with that? it's a topic of discussion. Talking about whether it is worth a penalty or not is what they're there to do.

PJ Stock, Ron MacLean, and Kelly Hrudy saw nothing wrong with Brown's hit and all thought Franzen should have gotten a penalty after his goal. I usually favor CBC over VS, but i might have to switch for this series. I agree but not for those reasons. I didn't think the hit on Huds was that big of a deal. Don't get me wrong, it was sensational, but I didn't think it was suspension worthy. And exactly why didn't Franzen get a penalty for mowing down Hiller? I don't care that he didn't, but objectively speaking, why didn't he? The thing that bugged me was them saying that Franzen hooked his skate on Hiller's pad for the last goal. Even if it was a problem, it was obvious in the replays that Pronger was trying to push Franzen around by pushing his knee under Franzen's thigh, which caused Franzens skate to make contact with Hiller's pad. McCLean saying that Franzen was doing it on purpose. Sheesh. Thye did seem a little anti Detroit tonite.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 It's beyond me how anyone can condone Brown's hit on Hudler. Players know when someone is vulnerable, they have enough time to ease up. They should watch out for each other's health and well being out there the best they can. I think it's unfair to say someone who just got smoked after making a pass and creating offense should be told by tv guys in suits to keep his head up. Brown was being a bully, he's a good 6 inches taller than Hudler, he knew what he was doing. He got what he deserved by the refs and I wouldn't be against a suspension. cirov19 1 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) That's funny because I thought they did a good job of being unbiased today, maybe even leaning a little in our direction. It seems like you guys only hear the bad things and not the good, but there were a lot of compliments today to the wings and while I can't pin them, I was actually impressed throughout the whole game by the praise towards our players. On the Hudler hit, one thought it was clean and the other thought Brown deserved what he got because he caught an unsuspecting player with no positive intention... any controversy about that hit would have come from whether he was bleeding from the actual hit or if his mask cut him when he smacked the ground. Seriously though, TSN is possibly the most disgusting thing to listen to ever. Edited May 2, 2009 by cirov19

cirov19 1 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) had to put this, love family guy and it fits in so well I don't know to take that as a joke or not, but if you have a problem with it then don't watch our broadcasts. Cool. You can try catching the game on FSN Detroit, but Mickey and Kenny are both Canadian as well. Good luck finding something not Canadian that relates to this sport. And if you're just joking, then I'm sorry... but make your intention clear because I hate when people rip on my country. Otherwise, yes ... it's funny. Grim 5 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 I usually love Ron MacLean and Kelly Hrudey's comments... But when they nonsensically isolated Getzlaf (and Pronger) for their immediate reaction after the final faceoff... and to somehow insinuate this was somehow workmanlike poise?? they simply skated off fer chrissakes!! How can anyone try to squeeze anything out of skating off/no reaction?? You want passion? see how Zatta blatently stuck his nose in whilst Selanne why trying to sweet-talk the refs after the game? I'm sure some common Swedish-Finnish cuss words were being shared. Anyways, the Conspirasist in me sez CBC was trying to sour the analysis of this series... especially since tsn/tsn2 is taking over coverage of this series. Broken 16 381 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) I only watch Canadian broadcasts when there is ABSOLUTELY no other choice. Watching CBC is like Wayne's World or something. So cheesy and backward. I've seen better quality on public access cable. Edited May 2, 2009 by Broken
