WCSF GAME 2 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 3 (3OT)

Nope.

I got locked out of it before I could post, surely THATS the jinx.

I couldn't post in it either. Also, I was tied up with a personal engagement this afternoon so I missed the first two periods. Clearly that is why we lost. I wasn't able to start the juju on time, so they were not affected by it until the very end.

For the 100th time, the OT goal was not offsides.

It was a good goal, but not everyone has the luxury of DVR. Trust me, I went through it a couple times to make sure. At first it looked off sides, so I replayed it in slow-mo and it was good.

Can't really rely on these refs, they've been horrid. They were brutal yesterday!

i wonder how the red wings wouldve done if o halleran had reffed..

anywho..kind of disappointed...we got 62 shots on goal and only lit 3..

and we let anaheim score 2 goals in less then a minute..a problem we had other times this season

oh well..wings will win in game 3..i have this..gut feeling

Don't worry, I'm sure he'll be assigned to games three and four. :P

EDIT: Didn't he ref game four in Columbus? Boy that was a big difference compared to the other games in that series! :P

OsGood should of stopped that shot, hands down.

well I was going to post a "Not this s*** again" picture, but it's not allowing IMG tags today.

You know, after playing nearly 2 full games, a goalie can't stop EVERYTHING thrown his way. After a while Hiller was going to give one up too.

It was a good game and Marchant made a play. Don't waste your time assigning blame when there really isn't anything to pin on anyone.

Well it was a pretty soft shot, and he wasn't getting screened I think? He had a clear look at the shot.

If we start out with the premise that as Wings' fans we are spoiled rotten; then hopefully move on to the fact that Ozzie (and everybody else on the team except Chelios) had just played FIVE full periods of hockey; and surmise that any goal under those circumstances could be considered a fluke goal, I think we need to give it a rest.

They played their asses off. All of them. If we feel "bad", how do you think they feel, even discounting the physical aftermath of such a game?

Time for a reality check, methinks.

Negative nit-picking is more than futile. It's draining. TIME TO MOVE ON and hope for the best for our beloved team.

For those who question Osgood should stop. We had a man advantage in the 1st OT period and offense didn't capitalize on a tired Ducks team. I knew after we failed to score on that, we were not going to win.

Osgood was the reason why we even made it to OT, it's ignorant to blame Ozzie for the loss. Blame the team for not scoring on their chance or blame Chelios for taking a stupid penalty that cost us a goal... but don't blame Ozzie.

Cheli didn't take a stupid penalty - it was an inadvertant high stick. He didn't hold, interfere, trip or crosscheck anyone. It was as much a mistake as the delay of game penalty. Part of the game and nothing to be done about it.

Anaheim seems to be able to waltz in anywhere they want. If the Wings don't get on board with fore- and backchecking, the Ducks will be able to do as they please.

I think that was an easy shot and Ozzie was supposed to stop that shot. However, if anyone doubts Ozzie's yesterday performance, they either bash Ozzie without any or did not watch the game.

Besides, I agree on you about taking some meaningless penalties. Chellios and Lebda(I do not remeber correctly) but they took some stupid penalties and converted to two goals in the first and second periods.

Hate to say but Chellios has to sit down at this point. He even could not play more than 7 minutes regardless of his age or physical status. Raffy should be back for next game; PP looked lost and lost all defensive puck battles on the corner.

The thing is, whether that was not a bad penalty or obvious penalty, allowing goal on PK sitatuation gave the Ducks all momentum. Luckily, Sammy scored to tie 2-2. However, that was not enough.

Before the series starts, I thought the Ducks would take like 10 penalties every game but they do not seem to do that after game 1 when they took all the penalties. On the other hand, the Wings did not control their emotion well enough and took some unnecessary penalties.

Moreover, our best players were absolutely invisible during game 1 and 2. I love Hossa being the Wings but he is doing nothing at this time. He has to step up because we really need him. It is good to see our 2nd and 3rd produce a lot of points and it shows our offensive depth but if any teams' best players show no heart on the game, those teams will face the tough time and that is the situation of Red Wings right now

I couldn't disagree more. It is imperative that you control your stick at all times, that high-sticking was an absolute undisciplined and unnecessary.

Ducks were hot on their PP's yesterday, Detroit wasn't. You can't give them those kind of chances, that's what lost us that game, not goaltending.

With that said, Ducks also got away with a bunch of non-calls earlier in the game. (e.g. Holmstrom being grabbed and drug down in the 1st by Neidermayer and Flip was high sticked 14:30 at the faceoff circle in the 2nd).

I expect the Red Wings to explode in gm#3 and destroy the Ducks.

Let's be realistic. That game was going to end on a very soft goal, whether it was Hiller or Osgood. Why? Because both teams were exhausted. It turned into a battle of goalies.. with both of them standing on their heads through two straight periods of OT.

Doesn't matter which goalie it would've been - it would've ended on a soft goal.
