Kronwall Jumps on Hits

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

He's broken two noses (Ryan Malone and now Ryan Carter... watch out Bobby Ryan), which isn't a big deal in hockey, but it's more of an injury than some hits dished out by "dirty" Anaheim players.

I say go all for Ryan Gets-a-laugh

They probably don't get called because A) He doesn't really do it enough to have a reputation and B) He doesn't aim for the head.

He's not a big guy, so I think he's probably made a habit out of lifting himself into the opposing player to make the hit.

In all reality, the whole "leaving your feet to make a hit" is a rule because it guards against hitting guys in the head. Kronwall doesn't make a habit of hitting guys in the head, so thats probably why he isn't called.

Against "the rules"? Yes. Dirty? Nah. And if they are dirty, its probably more of an accident on Kronner's part than anything else. For the life of me, I can't recall Kronwall handing out some nasty backhand slashes, head-butts, hits from behind, etc on a regular basis. Because of that, I dont see him as a nasty player by trade, so much as a guy who gets in over his head when he hits.

NBC/VS/TSN are doing a great job of highlighting it so he does get a rep for it.

Pronger does aim for the head alot

well, alot of times guys nowadays will raise their hands or stick right before they get hit and with him being short .......well

Seriously? This whole conspiracy theory/inferiority complex that's going around is getting old.

really? the only inferiority complex going around is the one affecting alot of red wing "fans" on here. I swear more are worried what some opposing fan who registered 2 days ago to troll thinks than admitting that these types of hits happen all the time in the NHL from lots of different players. Only I don't see their fans sucking up to others.

and also why dont these guys complain about"captian cannon"s hits he seems to hit in the exact same way as kronwall

how much time do Flyers fans spend on msg. boards apologising for this immoral conduct.

"He shall be stripped of his P for conduct unbecomming a Flyer"

thus it was written.

The goal of the mods is to keep this place running smoothly. If that means telling some Wings fans on the board to play nice, that's what's we do.

But seriously, this whole everyone is out to get the Wings way of thinking has gotten really old.

Well, we spent a lot of breath lambasting Hitchcock for complaining about the refs enforcing the rules against his team, despite the inconvenience of it all. So if we agree that what Kronwall does is in fact against the rules, then I sure hope I don't hear a peep of complaint if Kronwall gets called for it at a really bad time.

Anyway, I see it like this: it's a bad habit, not anything dirty. He just gets overexcited. I actually wish he wouldn't not only because it's gonna be a penalty sooner or later, but because I think his hits would be way more effective if he went low and threw his hip rather than high with the shoulder.

Not only would the hits be more effective, but as it is he's taking himself out of the play every bit as much as the guy he's hitting. If he'd stay on his feet he wouldn't have to pick himself up all the time.

It takes Nik just as long to get back in the play as Bonk.

Vs...

Hawerchuk is sprawled out in the neutral zone and Vlad is following the play in the offensive zone.
