Met Lilja the other night

I got real lucky the other night at game 1 and (thanks to HR40) was lucky enough to meet many Red Wings after the game which was a HUGE thrill for this Aussie kid. I never thought I'd be lucky enough to get the privilege. Not to mention make my Winter Classic jersey WAY cooler.

Sadly, I wasn't lucky enough to catch Zetterberg, Lidstrom or Stevie but I managed to see Datsyuk, Hossa and heard some interesting words from Andreas Lilja.

Unfortunately, he was extremely sombre despite the preceding events of the night. He didn't seem to have a very positive disposition at all. HR40 asked him, "How are you feeling?" and he responded with what seemed like the default answer, "Fine." His face was forlorn and his body language was negative. In response to "We'd love to have you back, do you think you'll be back for the playoffs?" he said, "I hope so." HR40 and I were in agreeance his face said it all though. "Probably not."

It was such a sad thing to see, but he looked devastated. Meeting the man himself confirmed the grim things I'd heard a while ago about his injury.

On a more positive note, Datsyuk is a really funny guy, he pretended he was going to sign Nik Kronwall's shirt and Nik was amazingly down to Earth. He was chatting with these Swedish tourists for like 30 minutes. Great guy. Hossa was cool too. I also met Darren Helm and I said, "Boy, you just keep skatin' don't ya? And hittin' everything that moves." He was like, "It's all I gotta do."

I'd be really sad and pissed too if I didn't get to play in the games that I worked all season long to get to.

I LOVE reading stuff like this especially when a lot of detail is given. That makes it much easier to imagine being there. I'm very happy for you!! That had to be an unbelievable experience.

<_<

How is it that you of all people got to meet Lilja?

You're lucky he didn't find out about the posts you've made challenging his fight record, because if he did find out, it would NOT have been a very pleasant evening for you.

I like Lilja. I'm just realistic about him, unlike you.

P.S. - He told me to tell you to leave him alone.

Whatever.

You're just jealous that he didn't feel like talking to you much.

:P

Lol. Most likely.

Mike, I agree. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. It'd suck so bad for him. I'd be shattered also.

Vladifan, thanks. It was an amazing experience, particularly because I'd always watched them from 11,000 miles away and never thought I'd ever meet them. It was probably the best night of my life.

Congrats Doggy! I'm jealous :)

So did Rabia find a job at a hospital in Detroit?

Edit: Don't tell Rabia that I asked about her! We magically became hated enemies one day and nothing's changed since :P

Yeah I'm a rock star. I'd like to note that Doggy got 11 autographs but I got 13!!! (I win.) Also, Ericsson "accidentally" touched my boob. So yeah...best night of my life.

Dammmnnnn Ericsson is a player!

Wait, how did a 6'5" dude accidentally touch a normal sized person's chest? Was he tying his shoes or something?

You guys have no idea how many high end Ericsson hockey cards I have that need his signature :( You lucky bastards!

Winner. I was envious of Doggy until I read this.

Hank's gonna kill him.

What were you wearing?

Okay, okay. Let's just get this straight. Ericsson only accidentally touched her boob because she got him to sign her t-shirt.

Also, she was the reason we didn't see Hank. Someone tipped him off and he escaped through the vents.

A touch is a touch. The goal counts.

Hank's playing hard-to-get.
