Practice today; Soccer tomorrow

I don't know why, but this story made me feel good and it's kinda funny too. Thought I'd share it.

I went to the Red Wings' practice today expecting to see only a few players out on the ice.

After all, they had played into a third overtime Sunday before flying out to California.

Much to my surprise, the entire team (except Brian Rafalski) was out there for fairly good skate under the circumstances.

They decided the best thing to do would be to loosen up the legs and flush out the system.

They're now going to skip Tuesday's morning skate. Instead, they'll have a team meeting and play a little soccer on the beach near their hotel.

I'll be surprised again if they don't bounce back with a victory in Game 3 to regain home-ice advantage almost as quickly as they lost it.

These guys have won nine of their last 11 playoff games on the road. They know how to respond in these situations better than anybody.

Thanks, Mike! You're right, that is an upbeat story and I like their loosey-goosey attitutde. They need to vent positively and have fun right now.

Will do. I actually think I've figured out where they are staying!! :) Looks like it's camera and bikini tomorrow down at the beach! WHOOHOOOO!

I hope you get to see them. If you do I will be insanely jealous. Tell them to shut those cocky Ducks up by racking up a s*** ton of goals.

Skip the bikini. I have too many pics of them with their tongues hanging out of their mouths.

J/K. Be sure to take them some sunblock. We don't want them burnt under their gear.

Jacqui, Julie told me to tell you hi :)

She is the girl with the great camera. :) And one of my best friends on the planet.

I told her they might be playing soccer today on the beach and she got to work. :)

Very nice! I told her to sign up here! It was so funny seeing one other wings fan there :) I had to share her pictures!! :) She had a rad camera too!

It's funny, I read that story and I figured out within two hotels where they were staying!! :)

Lilja and Ozzie came down to the beach and I saw them. I am sure it's a bit odd they got to see fans in their bikinis. Ozzie was like OH LOL Thanks :) lol

She is a tremendous Wings fan stuck in Anaheim, will be going to Game 3 and 4, then coming to D-town for Game 5 with her husband. (Ducks fan but a great guy!)

This goes beyond fan and into PSYCHO. I'm all for asking for autographs and pictures while the players are in PUBLIC, but invading their privacy is another issue. Enough fans do sh!t like this, and pretty soon the players stop being so nice. Let them have their PRIVACY.

Doesn't look like they were put back by it to me. I doubt VIB was shoving things in their face to autograph, or pestering them with questions every 5 seconds, or asking them to pose every minute for pictures. Looks like she and the other photographer were far enough away to not be a distraction. No biggie IMO. And I'm sure if it were as big a deal as you think it is, it wouldn't be hard for someone on the team to ask for security to escort the people away from the area.

Good to see the guys loose, relaxing, and with smiles all about. Looks like they'll be in the right frame of mind for the game.

Yes, maybe if they were a bunch of obnoxious fans shouting stupid s*** and what not, but we're talking lady fans... in bikinis!

Clearly jealous..

If anything, they were distracted and lost the game.

Looks to me like they were in a common area of a hotel.

Jealous? Of what? I've met all these guys. But I didn't have to follow them to their hotel rooms where they were enjoying their PRIVACY to do it. Go to Traverse City in September, and all these guys are happy to joke around with everybody there. There is a little thing that most of us live with in this world called "demeanor".

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/demeanor

Some of us have proper demeanor and allow others their space, time off from their work, and privacy. Some of us don't. The players hold special media days, fan days, and other events that are designed to allow the fans of the team get in tight with the players. To go to this level to get beyond that barrier is a bit crass, in my opinion. to the Wings hotel room crashers.
