hail2ducks 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 here is to my first post, i am a season ticket holder at the ponda, and it is rare when there are issues like this outside the arena, i remember when the wings went to the ponda in the regular season with that whole high stick goal thing that happened, i was walking to my car when 6 drunk wing fans caught up to me from behind and got in my face saying how the ducks suck and that they are the stanley cup champions and giving me that face that they want to do something to me, obviously i was outnumbered so i could not say or do anything because i actually want to live and not get my ass kicked over some BS, but know this, there are bad fans both ways. Cant we all just enjoy watching hockey no matter the outcome.

Just to go and enjoy a game that I forked out hundreds of bucks to go to and get to my car safely without being threatened, grabbed etc for being an opposing teams fan. I am respectful of the people around me regardless of their team. It's disappointing that anyone needs to hurt anyone else for something so utterly foolish. And I'm sorry that anyone approached you like that - it's WRONG.. Edited May 6, 2009 by VladyIBELIEVE16

skippy_kenn 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 (edited) I am not sure if The Honda center has this service but you can check with guest services when you arrive at the arena. A lot of arena's have setup up security texting. Simply text them for example sec 204 row 12 guy in seat 5 drunk and trying to start fights. 5-10 minutes later security is there to escort him out. After the text they observe the person while security comes to the location and if it is seen as a actual call they are radio'd to proceed to removing them. It is something a lot of stadiums have started. If this has already been post sorry about duplicating it Edited May 6, 2009 by skippy_kenn

Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 (edited) Before the game at the preskate at the wing's bench with the fellow LGWers there was a a ducks fan that came down the stairs and stood up looking over to the wing's bench and yelling at babcock and cleary. Cleary was looking at him like he was a stupid fool. I suspect the fan did a little pre gaming at JTs. He was embarrassing me as a fellow duck fan. duckaroosky 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 (edited) I like how delusional you guys are that ALL your fans are perfect angels. I'm not saying all the wings fans that showed up to the game were a$$holes and I'm not say that all the ducks fans are innocent because there are drunk jerks on both sides. But what I experienced during the 1st intermission while waiting to get drinks was a whole new level of a$$hole-ism. Three detroit fans walk by and stole the towel that I had over my shoulder. Seeing that they had about 5 towels each I knew they were going around stealing the towels from fans and running away. I walked up to them and said "that wasn't cool, what the hell are you doing?" They all surrounded me (I'm a 22 year old woman about a 130 lbs. they were all about 200 lbs. easily). Another duck fan pulled one of the guys away from me and they proceeded into a shoving match. The other guy shouldered me into the wall and ran off after people separated the other guys. Happy to say they got escorted out of the arena in hand cuffs but unfortunately their 4th friend who just happened to be sitting in the same section as I was, and had nothing to do with the situation, got removed from the game as well. That being said there were some very good detroit fans. There was a nice couple that sat next to me and we had a nice long conversation about hockey in detroit and chicago. So thank you for the great company during an interesting game. Edited May 6, 2009 by duckaroosky

So thank you for the great company during an interesting game. I truthfully don't believe any of us were saying our fans were any more innocent than ducks fans or any other fans for that matter. I think the issue here is violence at sporting events and people's safety. It's a shame that anyone has to act this way. I don't condone it AT ALL by anyone. It's horrifying to me to know this stuff goes on. This should not be a deciding factor in whether you attend a sporting event. I mean really.
Bad Vlad Forever 1 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 My wife and I went to the game and left without incident last night. We had some tailgaiters chant "Red Wings Suck" at us on the way in, but we kept our heads down and just moved along. On the way, a couple of girls who were Ducks fans told us "I wouldn't wear those shirts if I were you". I kindly told them that I'd be fine and that I'd been called much worse things than a Red Wing fan before. They said that we should be worried about being jumped in the parking lot. On the way out, we had a couple of "Red Wings Suck" taunts sent our way, and again, just kept to ourselves and got out of there without incident. I've been to several Wings games at the Ponda now, and every time I've been treated well while inside the stadium, and actually, every time, I end up sitting next to a Ducks fan who has a million questions for me about the rules of hockey. It's odd, but a good opportunity to impose some good will. I guess we were the lucky ones last night.

If it's not intent to blow the whistle it's homers ass in the crease, Hasek being pitch forked into the net, and pucks bouncing off the protective netting resulting in a goal for the other team. We should be pros by now at understanding the underlying rules of this sport.

I'm reading a section of rules right now which clearly states "ASS HANGING: no offensive zone center shall impose their posterior in such a way that it may offend, discomfort, or even arouse a goalie. should such an infraction occur, a 2:00 minute penalty will be assesed for "playing hockey"". Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted May 6, 2009 (edited) It's a shame any of this happens. And it happens at every single sporting event. There are always assholes and there are always fights. For my part, the last fight I got into at a sporting event was a Browns/Bengals football game. When I got out of there and got home I looked at my little girls and just said, this s*** is not worth it. So now, whenever I go to a sporting event I go in plain clothes. And since then, never had an incident or even a cross word thrown my way. You always here these horror stories and think..well, it's unlikely that that kind of stuff will happen to me. A couple of years ago I went home to Cleveland to catch the Browns/Steelers game. On the way out I see a Pitt fan shove some girl...and then the girls boyfriend unloaded with a haymaking right, the guy hit the pavement cold and stopped breathing. He survived. And I know of another guy my age, 32, who is in jail for a drunken bar fight where he landed a bumbling, stumbling haymaker and the recipient fell, hit his head on the curb and no longer functions like a human should. It only takes one lucky punch and an awkward fall to kill somebody. Seriously think about that the next time you go to a sporting event and think its absolutely necessary to represent any team with what you wear. It's sad that it has gotten to that point but it has. For me, it's not that important to wear my team's colors, especially in hostile territory. just my 2 cents. Edited May 6, 2009 by GordieSid&Ted

hemitheus 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 what can you expect out of trash? drunken idiots get a win over the team they hate the most and they act like the trash they are. It is just sad that the police in SoCal suck too because after reading what happened in the parking lot I am enraged... arrests should have been made. this is simply not acceptabel anywhere.... even the toothless hillbillys in nashville dont act like this.... but again the proximity to Mexico always plays a factor. Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 TMI don't say that.. we still have potentially two more games to attend there this series. Don't say what? That last night isn't an isolated occurrence, but is apparently part of a pattern of potentially deadly sports-related violence in the area? Sounds like an important cautionary tale to me. My post wasn't meant to be taken as we'll never get our comeuppance. what can you expect out of trash? drunken idiots get a win over the team they hate the most and they act like the trash they are. Really? Exactly how do you justify your high horse when you think nothing of making horribly offensive statements about Mexicans and people in Nashville?
