Frozen-Man 144 Report post Posted May 11, 2009 (edited) Really good article. I really hope we get to keep this guy around. Just a couple of the best parts: Regarding the hit in game 1: "I remember all the blood. I wasn't scared, but there was a lot of blood," Hudler said, revisiting the painful incident in the first period of Game 1. "I remember looking in the mirror after the game, seeing the stitches. And now I see the scar. But that's hockey. It's the playoffs. You do what you have to do to battle for every inch on the ice. "What I remember most is we scored on that power play (a five-minute penalty to Brown) and won the game." Regarding being fortunate enough to play for the Wings: Hudler won't complain about the slow nurturing process, knowing full well that every kid from Saskatoon to Olomouc wants to play a lot ... and play right now. "Playing in the NHL is a dream of every hockey player," Hudler said. "I was lucky I got an opportunity to see the speed and skill of the NHL in one of my first years in North America. I was lucky it was Detroit that drafted me and not someone else. I got to learn on the job, learn the right way to do things. "I just had to have patience. At first, I admit, you look around and see all the talent and wonder if you're good enough to get a shot at the big leagues. But the Red Wings put young guys in a position to gain confidence. And, when you're ready, you're going to play." Here is the link to the article. Edited May 11, 2009 by Frozen-Man

Just a couple of the best parts: Regarding the hit in game 1: Regarding being fortunate enough to play for the Wings: Here is the link to the article. It was a really good article and, like you, I hope we can keep him around. Huds is a 60 pt player- perhaps more because we have yet to see his potential ...and what he has been able to do for this team, playing on the 3rd line, has been amazing. Look at the stats and they state that per minute, he was the most efficent player on the Wings (IE: Ice time VS Points) The guy goes to an average hockey team ( Dallas, Nashville ect) and he plays on the top or 2nd line for sure. I hope we can keep him. He is a diamond in the rough...

If I'm Huds, I sign a 3 year deal with the Wings, get heavier and stronger by going on the Datsyuk weight training program, and get a FAT payday from the Wings in 3 years when they have a little more money to toss around. I agree with the post above. Hudler's a 60-70 point player on any other team besides the Wings. It's not easy to play on the 3rd line and get the points Hudler gets. He's done well. wmubronco420 25 Report post Posted May 11, 2009 so true about the way the wings bring up young players. Gotta feel bad for guys like Stamkos or Turris, they just get tossed into the fire and are expected to produce right away. Thats just not fair to a guy barely old enough to drink a beer. titanium2 867 Report post Posted May 11, 2009 And to think, with all the options and free agents, this is a roster that's a rather "worst case" scenario: Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Hudler-Filppula-Franzen Leino-Helm-Cleary Abdelkader-Draper-Maltby Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Lilja Meech

I don't think Kindl has dropped of the radar, during the midseason scouting report he was still listed as the 3rd best prospect right behind Ericsson and Helm and ahead of Abdelkader and Leino. Kindl hit a rough patch for a while but he has been much better as of late. Kindl is still 3 years younger than Ericsson and seems to be progressing well - given some time I think he will be a good asset for the Wings. Edit* Poor grammar. norrisnick 1 Report post Posted May 11, 2009 Hudler is Kozlov and Larionov rolled into a fun-sized bundle. Letting him go would be a huge mistake.

xBrave_Heartx 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2009 I completely agree. I respectively disagree, I think he's turning into a fine player dont get me wrong. BUT, He will never be a complete package, He will never be able to be a consistant 2nd line scoring winger.. I think he is to slow, small and not gutsy enough to grind all the boards and isn't defensivly gifted. Certain teams i can see Hudler playing well against, But rough/tough teams is not one of them. If we could let him walk in FA and get atleast a 1st round selection out of the deal, I'll take it.

Have you missed every single thing said about him by teammates and even Babcock (this season)? Hudler is fearless. He'll go anywhere against anyone to make a play. RedWings 79 Report post Posted May 12, 2009 Good season but need to confirm. He's only 25 and with obviously a lot of playoff experience. You cannot get that easily on the market. I would give him a small term deal, at 2.5 millions
