10 Minute Misconduct

Sammy is clutch

I'm glad that there is some Sammy love going around. I do like the guy - I love the fact that he yaps and tries to stir s*** up (not too effectively...), even though he can't fight. Then again, maybe it's not fair to use his tilt with Oystrick as a reflection of his pugilistic skills (or lack thereof) since I maintain that he was trying to draw a roughing penalty and get Oystrick a fighting major. I think that he's played well this post-season, whatever line he's on (though I do like him with Filppula and Hudler at the moment). He's no Datsyuk or Franzén, but he's stepped up and what more can you ask. With regard to PP, there are times I wouldn't mind seeing Stuart out there in his place, but I do love it when he does his special and scores (by which I mean drift down to the goalie's right post/left circle from an offensive point of view and bang in a one-timer at a crazy angle). I agree with the comparison to Robert 'Pylon' Lang in that as much as you hate him, you can't deny the fact that he scores timely goals.

Though I think we're getting ahead of ourselves to say that Sammy is more clutch than Hossa, as Hossa's only goals have come at good times (4th game vs. Columbus and our hardest one against them, and then the game against Anaheim), but I would concur with the statement that Sammy has saved his best play for the most important part of the year.

He scores a goal and will admit a nice shot(for once). However, he played a horrible game, turning over the puck constantly - his linemates saving his ass - shying away from hits rather than going after the puck(here you take it don't hit me). The play was in our end they get the puck out, move it up ice and he was still in their end. I was wondering why the hell he was at their blue line when the rest of the team was trying to gain control of the puck in our own end. He is Lang incarnate. Put Leino in - he can hold onto the puck and play defensively.

His defensive play is often questionable, but he doesn't shy away from throwing checks. By Samuelsson checks I mean skate halfheartedly into the opponent who got rid of the puck ages ago and tie him up for a half-second.

I wouldn't mind seeing Leino play, but there is no way it will be at the expense of Samuelsson!

He's done nothing the hurt the Wings this postseason (or last). Sure, none of us like him on the PP, but aside from that I fail to see how he hurts the team. He's outplaying some of our top guys right now, sadly, and he's certainly earning his salary for a role player (around 1 mill I think).

Agreed, Sammy can be frustrating a times, but he's never been a detriment. He's always been solid defensively and has come up with crucial goals. You can't ask for a better 3rd liner, it juts sucks that he's so prone to shooting into the chest protector of a goalie. If only he could work on his timing...

Still, it's hard to hate on Sammy, like Cleary, he's always hardworking. And these playoffs he's been one of the forwards I've noticed the most for his effort.

Sammy is a great 3rd line guy. 3rd liners are supposed to score some random timely goals. Keep in mind, just before scoring that goal, he had a sweet block on a shot by..... Lebda...

I like Sammy in the playoffs, next year though.... we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Time for me to eat some crow, as I've been a fairly regular Sammy basher.

He's played really well in the playoffs, and his goals have been timely.

Like most, I'd rather see Stuart get his PP time, but other than that, he's been more than satisfactory.

Good job Sammy!

I'll bash you no more.

(Until next season of course.....LOL)

Let's not forget Sammy's performances in game six against San Jose in '07 and in game one against Pittsburgh last season.

He was directly responsible for the Hawks 1st goal, but he chose a good way to make up for it :D

'Directly responsible' is definitely pushing it.

He did redeem himself pretty well.

To be honest I was pretty mad that he threw that puck right at the Chicago D-men on that penalty kill that led to their first goal.

Way to make up for your mistakes Sammy!

Sammy's "gritty and he's clutch"!

First he mugs Campbell and steals the puck and outlets it for an odd man rush that leads to him getting it back for a one timer OT game winner. Holy %^*$!

Sammy=unbelievable value

Props to OP.

6 more wins. Go Wings
