I think that's true, he's one of those random high-number scoreres. 66, 68, 87, 71, 91, 99, 40, 81... He wore 81 with Team Slovakia and that at least induces memories of playing with other European friends and more of a puck possession style. 18 reminds him of his days of Ottawa, Atlanta and Pittsburgh... How many times did Gretzky change HIS number over his career? I seem to recall hearing he wanted to be #9, but had to be #99 instead. Old school Fedorov, Forsberg and Hossa are perfect examples. Filps has that aura about him too. He just needs to not fall down as much and go sliding into the boards.
