ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 I think 81 by far matches his style of play better. Just for my sake, he should keep it. I think that's true, he's one of those random high-number scoreres. 66, 68, 87, 71, 91, 99, 40, 81... Cookie to anybody who can correctly guess which player each of those refers to, it's probably not hard.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 I think 81 by far matches his style of play better. Just for my sake, he should keep it. Yeah really. He wore 81 with Team Slovakia and that at least induces memories of playing with other European friends and more of a puck possession style. 18 reminds him of his days of Ottawa, Atlanta and Pittsburgh... Which would you pick?
SDavis35 140 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 I like Maltby as much as the next guy, but the guy is NOT a hall of famer. The Hoss is a future Hall of Famer. You gotta give up the sweater. How many times did Gretzky change HIS number over his career? I seem to recall hearing he wanted to be #9, but had to be #99 instead. It's a respectful move to give up your selfish ambitions to allow a teammate to keep his.

Federov Gretzky Zetterberg (maybe not who you were going for here, but that's the first 40 that pops to mind) Hossa
titanium2 867 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 My God, this is what people have to complain about? I guess this should make us lucky. Yup it's like living in the suburbs. ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 61 too. I'm drawing a blank about who wore 61. Electrophile, all of those were right, and 71 is Malkin.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 I'm drawing a blank about who wore 61. Electrophile, all of those were right, and 71 is Malkin. Rick Nash.

I knew one person wouldn't totally disagree.

ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 Rick Nash. ahh, I forgot about Nash. Maybe if he'd scored a few goals against us I wouldn't have. Oh yeah, 82 is in there too. Maybe somebody can guess this one... hint... he's out with a broken face.....
SoDakWing 8 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 I just wanted to talk about SOMETHING ELSE than how bad certain players are playing right now. I think The Hoss should get #18 if he resigns. Maltby should give The Hoss what he wants. I think your an idiot. Malts SHOULD NOT give up whatever it is that Hossa wants. to even think he should is idiotic

Seraph 240 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) Anything ending with a -1 implies smooth skater to me. Someone who glides with at touch of magic. Old school Fedorov, Forsberg and Hossa are perfect examples. Filps has that aura about him too. He just needs to not fall down as much and go sliding into the boards. maltbymaniac 13 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 Marian Hossa likes the number 18. I think Maltby should have given it up when The Hoss came on board. I think management should have stepped in if Maltby didn't willingly give it up like Fischer gave up #2 to Hatcher. What do you think? have u lost your mind? egroen 384 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) Whn Mark Messier signed with Vancouver part of his requirements were to wear the "C" (The current captain was Trevor Linden, a highly respected captain and the team's most popular player) and to wear #11. So Wayne Maki's (whom had died in an automobile accident) number was unretired and Messier, the "greatest leader ever" took that team to win a Stanley Cup.... or not.... Linden was later traded and with players like Pavel Bure, Alexander Mogilny, Kirk McLean, Markus Naslund and Mattias Ohlund, Messier would lead the Canucks to a grand total of 0 playoff appearances. Nero 20 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 I don't care if Hossa is the second coming of Christ. Maltby has been with the Wings for 12 seasons and Hossa has been with the Wings for 1 season. The vet gets to keep his number. Your name is what the Hall of Fame glorifies, not your number. Tell that to #

Those guys are the most UN-smooth skaters on the planet. Boyd and Dan have a 50/50 shot at falling down during their shift with no opponent on the ice!!!
