10 Minute Misconduct 104 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 I hope nobody's taking these guys lightly, should we meet up (mathematically/historically, there's about an 80% chance of it now). They look better than they did last year right now, we look worse. And that series was airtight after those first two games, as much as most don't see it. Not to mention that rematches almost always favor the guy that lost the first time. Rematches always favor the guy that lost the first time? lol Guess you havnt heard of the Buffalo Bills. Have you noticed Pittsburgh's defense this series against pretty much a one line Carolina team? lol Pittsburgh has less talent then last year but i'd say more character/gritt. It won't be easy but Detroit should beat them if we meet. Also Ward has been s***ting the bed this series.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 Imagine what he'd allow against this Wings offense. 3? Fluery is massively overrated.

b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 horrible game by Ward, plenty of softies. Crosby and Malkin have torn through the weak East. I wonder who the league gives the Smyth in a scenario where the Wings win the cup, beating Pittsburgh, Malkin outscoring Crosby. I'm a firm believer that the MVP should go to the winning team unless there is an absolutely disgusting margin of dominance INCLUDING the Finals. I don't believe a team that loses in the Finals whose big star was shut down in the Finals should have that star win based on padding the stats in the previous rounds. Anyone else have thoughts on that scenario?

egroen 384 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 (edited) Fleury lets in a lot of softies as well as bad rebounds and the Pens D is awfully porous... can't keep the Canes from waltzing through with speed. Edited May 22, 2009 by egroen

Yak19 303 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 God the canes are s***, its pathetic they made it to the ECF instead of Boston. The East in general is weak.

C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 I wouldn't say we look worse, just different. Our PK and our "top line" definitely look worse, but our depth is firing on all cylinders. If even one of those two start clicking the Wings will be in just as good of shape as they were last season, and if both start...it should be a quick series. Note: Fleury allowing 4 goals against the Canes? Imagine what he'd allow against this Wings offense. Fair enough...we'll need Datsyuk, Hossa and a PK to beat these guys though. If we play them. Trying really hard not to jinx anything. Malkin was busy disappearing at this time last year too, and that's obviously not the case at the moment. That was entertaining. Gleason lands about 10 punches to Letang's 0...but Letang fell on top of him, therefore he wins the fight per the fans. I love how that works.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted May 22, 2009 Was lying down on the couch watching the rest of it (or falling asleep from it) --- both teams are gonna be 2 wins away from a rematch of last year's cups.

Don't you remember how dominant Malkin was in the ECF's against PHI last season? Same thing....he played great and then magically he was "tired" against the Wings. I'm not saying it would happen again, but I do believe if either one of the Wings' top line or the PK start firing on all cylinders it should be a series win for the Wings. If both start clicking, the series will be over faster than it was last season. Notice the word "should"....not "will".

Cruiser008 37 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 I hate to admit it, but Malkin and Crosby have both improved since last year's playoffs; they are gonna be a load to handle if we advance and meet them in the finals.
Zetterling 16 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 Well, you can definitely tell they're in the east. Yeah, these teams aren't as good defensively as most western conference teams. A Pens Wings rematch will be exciting if it happens though.

Guest Shoreline Report post Posted May 22, 2009 (edited) It reminded me of the Fischer crosscheck on Adams in the '02 finals Eh, Bayda on Letang was similar to Fischer on Westlund, but Fischer's was indeed much worse and blatant.
